is there a clothing item or style you like, that gives away where you're from?

Your weight is not a clothing style.

Sigh. That’s what some Americans don’t understand. It is. It’s actually the most important piece of it.

Oh definitely. Like with the TX posters, I assume when I picture their blinged out jeans, they are probably Miss Mes and the women are heavier than is the norm in the DMV. My sisters and SILs live in Austin/Houston/Dallas and the average woman tends to be significantly heavier than here.

Not in Austin proper. Austin is a crunchy fit college town full of young athletic people.

Actually, boots of every kind!

Why do you miss it? What prevents you from wearing that? It's still fashionable?

I don’t miss it, I do wear it all the time (well, not in summer in DC). That wasn’t the title of the thread though, or perhaps I misunderstood

This is OP - and you did not misunderstand! You understood perfectly.

This would be my DH's answer. He's from northern Minnesota.

I'm a military brat with deep roots in Maine and agree with the PPs who mentioned the Beans catalog.

I should move here because I'd LOVE to live in this uniform! So comfy!

Jack Rogers sandals and Sperrys boat shoes in summer.

Comfy sweaters with a tee shirt underneath and jeans in winter.

New England.

I grew up in NC and only thing I think says it are Rainbows. Not Reefs or any other sandal - just Rainbows. I've got a beach pair (old, worn, wet), nice pair, and 2 colors.

Also, all your quote reminds me of is how most of my family dresses like Melissa McCarthy's character from Boss. She must have been in the South when writing that movie because it is straight perfection.

Also from Michigan. Last year when I was in Paris, I noticed a Carhartt boutique in the Printemps department store across from the opera house.

Carhartt is sold in my local Kroger supermarket.

It's funny to imagine hip Parisians dressing like a Detroit plumber.

Most people in KC didn't get the memo not to dress like a tourist who shopped at the KC airport. KC, MU, KU, Royals, Chiefs, Current Soccer, on every item of clothing all the time.

Similarly, people from Colorado love the C and flag.

Hahaha. I came on here to say the same. I haven’t lived in Boston in 25 years but I still love black jeans!
