Can a woman have kids naturally at 44?

I did, complete surprise too. Can’t imagine life without him.

Yes, I know its possible and yes I know you know X amount of women but I think we need to be honest that its not common. And the people who you know within the last 20 years probably half of them have used ART that they kept private. And yes sometimes people don't even tell their best friends about ART. You never REALLY know is people got pregnant "naturally" or not.

So sick of the "anyone who had a baby after 35 most likely had fertility treatments and just didn't tell you because you never REALLY know" attitude by some people on DCUM. It's really sad and pathetic, honestly.

P.S. To the PP I was responding to, if you're someone who needed treatments and is hiding it from your close friends because you think it's some dirty shameful secret (and therefore you think that because you're doing it then it's somehow normal or common) then you should honestly get some therapy. Carrying around all that shame can't be good for you, especially for something that you don't even need to be ashamed about!

+1. When I had my second at 38, I got pregnant the month after we stopped using protection. I'm not some kind of unicorn exception. The statistics say that 90% of women between 35 and 39 will get pregnant. That's pretty much everyone.

My doctor told me, that women used to just have children until they couldn't. It is totally normal to have kids in your 40s, it is a more modern concept to stop at two or three.

Yep, pre birth control the age of the mother at last child was on average in the 40s (assuming mother wasn't widowed, died in childbirth, etc.)

we're LDS and my grandmothers and great grandmothers all had their first by 20 (sometimes earlier, my mom was born when my grandmother was 18 and she was the second) and their last around 40+. Not unusual to have a 20 year spread between kids.

Yes, that it’s me. I didn’t get my period until my late teens. I had kids at 37 and 40, conceived on the first try, and now at 44 I am pregnant again. It can and does happen. A close family friend just had her oops baby at 43 after using ART for the first two.
