Women’s World Cup 2019

Anyone else love France? They've been my favorite women's team tbe last three World Cups. Really great match this afternoon.

Renard should have gotten an immediate red card for that. Coming in studs up that high on a leg is intentional and meant to injure. Cheap play.

They’re a very good team. Diani is a player! Yesterday’s game was so tense. I’m a USA fan and not looking past Spain today, but if we manage to win today, France is going to be a tough match up for us.

It could’ve gone either way. If Debinha scores, it’s Brazil going through. Amazing GLC by France’s defender.

Why is megan rapinoe in the game? Dunn needs to be up top.

Commenting on footballers' behaviour during matches is either fair game or it's not. Whether you agree with the behaviour or not is irrelevant.

Nice try, but no.

I liked this article, for all of you who were aghast at the commentary about the UNWNT, but now pile on Cameroon.

For RantingSoccerDad, my opinion is to comment away! The controversy will be good for popularizing the sport.

They need to switch her out, she just does not fit the style of play. That’s two balls she should have done better with...and there are players on bench who would do better.

Spitting on people and acting like complete dbags on a international stage is not good for the game. Any publicity is good publicity does not apply here. I wonder why you think otherwise.....??? Hummmm

How is it really going to hurt the game though? I think the majority of people who watched that game thought there was a lot of bad refereeing and some questionable VAR calls, and that the Cameroon team acted like a bunch of petulant losers. The poor refereeing and VAR issues are a much bigger problem for the game as a whole. The team made their country and soccer federation look bad, but they also made the World Cup a bit more interesting.

I thought the part of the article where the author claimed men get away with poor sportsmanship more easily was a bit ridiculous. Zidane was excoriated by people around the world for that head butt, regardless of whether someone thought to immortalize it.

Agreed. I don't think we're as good as everyone says we are. England, France, Norway and even Canada all look stronger than we do. I'm a ride or die USA fan, but I think this team might be overhyped.

Going on half the rest as the other team, especially when they're a fast, pressing team like Spain, if always going to be a problem.
If it wasn't for a bad giveaway, they'd be winning today.
I think you're overreacting a bit.

Maybe - I still don't think we are as good as everyone says we are. I wish it was different. I got to see England and France play a few games leading up to the World Cup, but not Norway nor Canada. They've all really impressed me. England in particular really feel like a *team*, not just a collection of players. Anyway, I do hope I'm wrong about the USA but I'm not feeling super confident about them.

US still not looking great against Spain at 64 minutes.

So many missed opportunities. And I’ve lost confidence in Naeher.
