I can understand an objection to Rapinoe's kneeling for anthem. I didn't like it either. But when people seem to tie it so tightly to the USWNT, I wonder what their objection really is.
Jill Ellis and US Soccer both quickly and clearly rejected the idea of any player doing this. They made it clear that all USWNT players are required to stand for the national anthem. This is different from the NFL which at least initially seemed okay with kneeling. Rapinoe has then tried to act like standing and not putting hand on heart and singing along is some sort of statement when that is exactly what many athletes do during the anthem. |

| I am bothered by the antics. The tea drinking thing was low class. I feel like the team has worked so hard to have a few who want all the attention. This team is not the 1999 team. That team changed the attitude toward soccer. This team comes across as spoiled and entitled USA. I am sure some meme bees would rather avoid the fbombs and drinking and focus on issues of equity. |
Well said. |

So you are all good with those founding principles about it being fine to own slaves and count them as 3/5s of a person, and, of course, prevent women from having any voice in government? Just checking where you stand. |
Love the people who question (and I'm certain, misrepresent) other's beliefs while being too afraid to state their own. |
| This team is not the 99 team? You’re right, they’ve been much more successful, against better opposition. |

This guy needs to spend a few minutes with the USWNT:

What a f*ckin tard coach. Cops aren't killing on sight 11-year-olds in neighborhoods where hockey is popular. People who are so cultishly devoted to...whatever it is...that they can't stand it when someone calls their attention to the slaughter of innocent citizens make me ashamed to defend the freedom that they clearly don't value. |
I’m not sure you understand the founding of every country in the World. The ones founded on democracy, like the US, made change and evolved. My ancestors were immigrants, just like every American. It’s funny that the US was the very first country to embrace women playing soccer while it was a very macho-men only sport in even the most progressive forward-thinking European countries. As an American woman today, there are very few other places I would want to live. I’m also confident we will have a new President soon. If not, the system will be rid of him with term limits. |
On the other hand, cops aren't being shot and assaulted where neighborhoods where hockey is popular. People who are so cultishly devoted to...whatever it is...that they can't stand it when someone calls their attention the fact that while they are entitled to their beliefs and opinion, some people believe some forms of protest are not acceptable. They don't understand while I may have to accept their actions, I don't have to like them and I'm free to disapprove of them. So many people who get angry with those of us who are against flag / anthem protests seemingly fail to realize or acknowledge that we have freedom of choice as well. |
