I also did my lips, and brought a photo of when I was around 18. They did minor lip injections based on the photo--no duck lips, nothing obvious at all. Several friends remarked on how great I looked. "new make up? Lighten your hair? Working out more?"

They were shocked when I told them, since I never discussed what i was thinking previously.

I'm 52 for reference.

People like you are sad. Just be happy with yourself. Injecting things into your face is WEIRD.

If she's sad, you're pathetic that you get your jollies sh*tting on people on the internet. WEIRD!

No jollies. Genuinely sad that so many women are so far gone.

Pity is the word you are looking for.

NP. Why so judgy? If a cosmetic procedure makes a person feel better about the way she looks or more confident or whatever, what is it to you? People getting juvederm aren’t hurting you or anybody else. If it’s not for you, that’s fine too, but why not just move along?

Why so judgy?

Let's see..the whole idea that looking your age is bad and that a person (let's be honest, a woman) who allows herself to age naturally is to be scorned is awful. The whole idea that the modern anti-aging culture is not harmful to anyone is a myth. It contributes to the entrenched views that a woman's worth is tied only to her appearance. It contributes to women losing their sense of self-worth as they age.

They just want your money. They make you feel bad about yourself so you'll spend money and things and procedures you don't need. Then you tell other women if they don't do it, too, they are not as good as you are, they are not as worthy as you are, they are not as valued as you are. You warn other women that society dictates you uphold certain standards or people will treat you badly. People judge you on your appearance, you say. You'll lose out on a promotion. People won't want to socialize with you. Blah blah blah blah blah.

"But it's just harmless.." Bullshit.

Not to mention, subjecting yourself to medically unnecessary procedures is foolish and vain. No procedures are risk free.

OP here. This isn't about you. I've never once thought I was better than other women who don't get injectables. That comparison wouldn't cross my mind. People's decisions aren't about you. Understand that and you'll become a happier person.

Is your reading comprehension really that bad. It's not about me, it's about the way our culture treats all women. But you have to demonize me, because otherwise you have to admit to yourself that you drank the Kool Aid.

Do you feel the same way about coloring your hair or makeup?

You simply feel this way about cosmetic fillers because it’s NEW.

All of it. It's all stupid. Can you really argue that our culture doesn't do this to women? Really? Some men fall into it, also, but not the majority and not anywhere near the degree that women do.

Ignore the anti-filler poster. I don't have fillers, and don't think I'll get any, but who the hell am I to say you shouldn't? The aggressive PP is just pro-life for faces. Weird way to express solidarity with other women, huh?

Considering the anti-filler poster posted that over a year ago...

i've heard if you get fillers at the top of your cheeks, it will get rid of the smile lines without the duck face look.
Anonymous
By “smile lines” are we talking about the ( ) to the left/right of your lips, or the nasolabial folds that come from your nose, shaped like / \ ? The /\ ones are a true heartbreaker for me, so I would LOVE to hear from someone who successfully beat them.
Anonymous
I love it, too. One syringe of filler is perfect.

Go to the best injector you can afford. It can all be done.

Did it cause any type of keloid scarring or did they say it might? I'm not black but I get keloid scars and my body rejects everything foreign...Also are you talking about the little vertical lines around your upper lip? How do they fill that? Multiple tiny dot injections or one long line around the perimeter of your upper lip? Can you feel it under the skin with your fingers or does it just do a general diffuse plumping?

Anonymous wrote:To OP and 23:51 ….

consider Vobella (technically, Juvederm Vobella). It's the newest type of lip injection and it's super pliable and absolutely does not create duck lips. It's very very subtle — so much so that you might ask yourself why you just spent $800+ to look about the same. But, it does help smooth out aging lips and kinda smooth out those lines/furrows within the pigmented part of the lip, without creating puff.

this describes the main types of lip injectables.

this is super helpful, thank you. I'm going next Monday for a consult, and lips are on my list.

Anonymous wrote:I posted earlier about getting juvederm and I just want to post an update. This is seriously the best skin decision of my life. I've gotten botox for years but fillers seemed like a big leap. It did feel really bizarre having them put in, but I can't believe how much better I look. Love, love, love how I look now. I have them in my smile lines.

Is there any other injectable I should be considering? Or other procedure?

Juvederm is great, fat transfer is even better ))) Consider it when you feel that you need it.
Don't listen to the negatives here, they are just jealous and penniless.

I never had bruising that couldn't be covered by a drop of foundation. Pain is another story. Lips and under eyes are very painful areas.
I always ask for a numbing injection.
