OMG I LOVE JUVEDERM

I didn't even know I needed anything particularly, but the before and after pics they took of me were SHOCKING. I didn't realize I looked old and tired (or maybe I did) but the effect was amazing. You do need to go to someone who is very good, and take their advice. Or go to several cosmetic surgeons (No MEDSPAs!) and get a couple of consultations.

I also did my lips, and brought a photo of when I was around 18. They did minor lip injections based on the photo--no duck lips, nothing obvious at all. Several friends remarked on how great I looked. "new make up? Lighten your hair? Working out more?"

They were shocked when I told them, since I never discussed what i was thinking previously.

I'm 52 for reference.

NP here. You sound jealous.

Yet another NP. No she doesn't. Snarky, maybe, but no where even near jealous.

The "you're jealous" thing is very middle school. Please don't use it.

People like you are sad. Just be happy with yourself. Injecting things into your face is WEIRD.

No jollies. Genuinely sad that so many women are so far gone.

Pity is the word you are looking for.

NP. Why so judgy? If a cosmetic procedure makes a person feel better about the way she looks or more confident or whatever, what is it to you? People getting juvederm aren’t hurting you or anybody else. If it’s not for you, that’s fine too, but why not just move along?

What do they call the lines that make your mouth turn down? What’s good for them?

Let's see..the whole idea that looking your age is bad and that a person (let's be honest, a woman) who allows herself to age naturally is to be scorned is awful. The whole idea that the modern anti-aging culture is not harmful to anyone is a myth. It contributes to the entrenched views that a woman's worth is tied only to her appearance. It contributes to women losing their sense of self-worth as they age.

They just want your money. They make you feel bad about yourself so you'll spend money and things and procedures you don't need. Then you tell other women if they don't do it, too, they are not as good as you are, they are not as worthy as you are, they are not as valued as you are. You warn other women that society dictates you uphold certain standards or people will treat you badly. People judge you on your appearance, you say. You'll lose out on a promotion. People won't want to socialize with you. Blah blah blah blah blah.

"But it's just harmless.." Bullshit.

Not to mention, subjecting yourself to medically unnecessary procedures is foolish and vain. No procedures are risk free.

It was expensive but fantastic. No side effects. Just can’t afgord a redo.

Dammit OP, I didn’t even know what smile lines were before trading your post and now I’m just making faces at myself in the mirror trying to figure out how bad mine are.

OP here. This isn't about you. I've never once thought I was better than other women who don't get injectables. That comparison wouldn't cross my mind. People's decisions aren't about you. Understand that and you'll become a happier person.

Do you feel the same way about coloring your hair or makeup?

You simply feel this way about cosmetic fillers because it’s NEW.

To each their own, no judgement from me!

Not everyone ages equally. Some people are blessed with genetics that make them less wrinkly, never have to color their hair, or cover up imperfect skin. That doesn't make them superior, just lucky. Nothing wrong with tweaking -- whether it's surgery, hair dye, or makeup.
