Jesus Christ. Way to insult early childhood educators. I teach Pre-Kindergarten, have a Masters degree in ECE, and have an IQ of 120. Please don't make assumptions about people who teach young children. It's this prevailing view that keeps the pay for most of us criminally low. |
clearly the first PP's EQ is quite low, to make such a bold statement. |
| Are people still putting any stock in IQ tests that were made with so many biases based on culture, experiences, etc? I thought we’d moved past that. Read “Imbeciles” by Adam Cohen. |
Modern IQ tests are unbiased; they spend a lot of time and effort making sure of this. Higher IQ is also predictive of many positive life outcomes. Wanting that not to be true doesn't make it untrue. Take a look at this summary if you're actually interested: https://www1.udel.edu/educ/gottfredson/reprints/1997whygmatters.pdf Table 10 is particularly telling. |
Thank you! This is so insulting and I agree with you on the bolded. |
Not true at all and has never been claimed. Can help with executive functioning, but that's not IQ. |
| 142. My brother was in 180s I thhink. He is quite strange. |
| I haven’t had an IQ test since I was a kid. I think it was 126 at the time. My mom tried to hide it from me for some reason but I found it in her file cabinet. I remember it not being high enough for the gifted and talented classes at my school because it wasn’t 130. Evidently that was some artificial cutoff. |
| Why are people posting their IQs that are higher than 100? OP asked if anyone had an IQ lower than 100. Way to miss the point. |
It's the law of diminishing returns on IQ. At some point Higher IQ = lower performance |
| I've never even taken an IQ test. Is there a reputable one online? |
If it was under 50, you probably couldn't type. |
I can tell when somebody's IQ is above 145. They are all strange. But in different ways. |
As the parent of an SN kid I think it's insulting that you think it's insulting to say someone has an IQ around 100. That speaks volumes about your lack of respect for people with lower IQ. DS is the kindest child I know and I love to spend time with him. He clearly performs differently than his peers and will probably not go to a 4 year college, though community college would be great. He likes kids though I don't know if he would want to be a preschool teacher. His IQ is 99. Exactly what part am I suppose to be ashamed about? |
Why is having an IQ around 100 an insult? And I didn't suggest that every PK teacher in the world has a low IQ, I said that I would guess that my DD's do. I have specific reasons why I believe that. I also believe they are great PK teachers. I think perhaps you are embarrassed about your current circumstances to read into my statement as much as you did. |
