Republicans only had 52 seats. They just didn't have he numbers. It was DEMOCRATS that didn't want to fund the border (shocking I know)

In their two years in control of Congress, Republicans did not prioritize Trump’s border wall. They approved $1.6 billion for border security projects for fiscal 2018, but only a fraction of that was to be used for construction of a wall. They were willing to kick in another $1.6 billion for fiscal 2019, a fraction of what the project could ultimately cost.

Or maybe that's what they approved that much because that is what would pass for democrats

I have zero issue with a combined solution - everify, agents etc. But if you are willing to throw MORE money at processing illegal entries you should be willing to spend money to stop them in the first place with a physical barrier.

Trump isnt Trump didnt really come in on a Republican mandate. He did come in on a mandate from an interesting cross section of the American people though, including some Obama democrats.

Congress has been supporting and funding border barriers for decades, on both sides of the aisle. What they DON'T support, on the other hand, is the hyperbole and massive escalation that Trump wants as a 2020 campaign prop.

The Trump administration didn't even spend the border money they were initially allocated. Why are they asking for more without any plan? They are more interested in theatrics than any actual solutions.

But, isn't the new wall done already? I mean emergency was declared, surely that means that Trump is down at the Mexico border building the wall and stopping such entries? And helping out endangered US citizens close to border and saving lives?

Certainly states like WI don't feel there's an emergency there since they have pulled back their national guards. Who goes golfing when the country has a national emergency going on?
