| I don’t find her particularly funny but man, she looks great for 60. |
This is very true. A friend (not a celebrity) was a guest on her show and said he wouldn't want to invite her to dinner at his house. She's not nice, her people aren't nice, and the whole thing really turned him off. Same for Hoda Kotbe. She's not nice either, but apparently Kathy Lee is very sweet! Who knew!!! |
I hadn't watched this, but was planning to. Now I'm having second thoughts. As a control, have you watched the Trevor Noah specials on Netflix? I thought they were really good. |
+1 |
| Her stint as Oscar host was painful to watch. So not funny. |
Yes, Trevor is great. BTW, I told two coworkers about how awful Ellen was, and one just told me she went against my advice and watched it last night and wished she hadn't. Same complaints I had. #Vindicated |
| I have watched her show for years, and I think Ellen has changed recently. She is more snarky to her guests and seems like she's just "going through the motions" of hosting her show. Plus, she needs to stop with the "scaring" celebrity guests -- enough, already! I do admire how she has brought attention to people who have worked to do good things in their community. |
| Her new Netflix special super sucks. She lost her appeal when she became uber wealthy and awful. |
|
"I talked to somebody, and they said she's not nice!" That doesn't tell me anything.
Also, if we were debating whether Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert were funny, would we also give a sh*t whether they were nice? |
| I watched her special and liked it a lot. Couple of lines really cracked me up (fine dining and step stool). You’re being way too rough on her. |

She is burnt out on fame, money and her show.
Most of the time on her show when I watch clips it is like she would rather be anywhere else. Given her wealth, I don't get why she doesn't just quit. I have heard too many stories about her not so nice side. It has to get very monotonous to do the same thing in front of people for decades and have to act a certain way. She needs to retire and just do fun projects that interest her. |
Actually, just this week I was listening to a podcast and a famous comedian who used to write jokes for her during early seasons of daytime show said everyone has to sign airtight and aggressively-enforced non-disclosure forms to work for her. He said a few years back he casually mentioned working on her show ONCE on some radio show and the next day corporate lawyers called him and threatened him to keep his mouth shut. He then asked podcast host to please change the subject. She's evil. And why she makes $80M a year is beyond comprehension. |
She's too rich and seems to be going out of her way to project she hates her daytime show. It's like she's pushing the limit to how lethargic and unfunny and passive-aggressive she can be to guests and audience. It's uncomfortable to watch. I don't think she's a happy person, I bet she has a lot of childhood emotional baggage. |
Fallon does have some talents. Ellen is just creepy. |
