I pretty much could have written this post at one point - I originally was going to vote for neither (or one of the 3rd party candidates but both of them seem pretty worthless) but am probably going to vote for Jealous, just to record my vote against the Republican. |
Same - I am voting more against Republicans as opposed to for Jealous. Jealous has my vote because I want to send a clear message to the republicans that they are not the party I support. |
| So you all are casting protest votes. |
|
I am shocked anyone is even remotely considering voting for Jealous. To see the future of our state all you have to do is look at the once great state of Connecticut to see what we will become.
Governor Malloy raised the state corporate tax to 7.75%, raising $700K for the state, and the results have been disastrous. The only thing going for Connecticut is that it is a rich state. GE has left the state for Massachusetts due to tax increases and Aetna, which once pledged to stay, is negotiating with other states. Malloy is offering financial incentives to stay. I do not know where that stands right now. Per The Atlantic article I posted below, Aetna is gone from CT. People are leaving the state as well in part because of the failure to thrive and because Malloy made CT a sanctuary state, which Jealous wants to do as well. High corporate tax rate, business will be driven out of Maryland killing jobs, sanctuary state, open borders. Maryland's economy is decent. That will be gone under Jealous. Do you think for one minute that the businesses will not pass that tax increase on to consumers? I cannot understand why anyone would actually vote for our state to go down the tubes. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2016-01-14/connecticut-and-new-jersey-rich-states-poor-economies https://www.wsj.com/articles/aetna-to-move-headquarters-out-of-connecticut-1496253002 https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2017/07/connecticut-tax-inequality-cities/532623/ |
Nicely put. |
Wait, but I'm planning to vote for Hogan AND Tony Campbell for Senate. Am I still a racist? Or, only partially so. |
| Because Hogan could pull a Chris Christie on us and fall in line behind Trump. |
| I've never voted for a Republican in my life, but I'd have to go with Hogan over Jealous because his support for Kirwan bodes poorly for moco schools. |
| I am genuinely torn. On the one hand Jealous seems over-ambitious and our part of the state continues to trail behind Virginia in economic growth. On the other Hogan rejected the Red line in Baltimore, made several bad decisions regarding the purple line, cut education funding including to the University of Maryland, plus The stupid calendar thing, and of course I have to urge to send the GOP a clear message- they are not wanted. |
Too late. He's not only behind Trump, but hasn't shown the slightest inclination to renounce him. |
| I don’t want to vote for any republicans right now. But I really hate what hogan has done to the school. |
Thank God he voted down the red line- that was an expensive disaster. He provided funding for the purple line (but reigned in the cost), and re-negotiated the metro funding as well, so you cant say he is anti transit. It will all be over soon, Hogan will win by double digits... |
The legislature will be making these decisions, not Hogan. |
Dp, given that we already live in a high tax state, I don’t want to see further tax increases. I think our education dollars should go to improving existing K-12 (huge need to replace aging schools state wide). I do not believe we can currently afford to make all higher education free, or universal pre-k. Therefore, will not be voting for Jealous though I otherwise intend to vote for democrats. |
. I also think I'll vote for neither. Can't support a Republican after everything that has happened recently with that party. Don't think jealous will be best for MD or Montgomery county |
