Do you consider 5 feet 9 inches at 160 pounds fat/chubby?

I’m also athletic (not muscular) and 5.8” and 140-145. I wear a 10 and am a little chubby.

Are you a gal or guy?

I am a lady (size 10 poster here).

You're too rough on yourself. You're not chubby with those numbers.

I've been 140 and loved the way clothes looked on me but everyone I knew wouldn't stop offering me food. At 160, and a size 8, you would still call me thin. Anything above that -- still not yet chubby but definitely fluffy.

very similar body type here... fluffy sounds cute and cuddly. i am a female at 5'9.5", before my kids in late 20s-early 30s I was around 140. looked a bit gangly, but was just a slim active person. after kids and 20 years, i have a few years of cookies and naps on my frame. these measurements change over the decades. your age/child bearing status also matters.

I agree. Fluffy does sound yum.

You're a tall gal too, so the years, naps, and cookies on your frame prob look amazing.

I’m 5’8 and 168 and carry all weight in my middle with thin legs and arms and huge boobs - under need to lose 15 to look good. Have friends that are shorter and weigh close to the same and look way better but their weight distributes better

Now I am worried I might be... but I've have solid bones, NOT the little frail type of body that looks pre-osteoporotic. I have european peasant ancestry... could probably pull a plough.

Doubt you're fat. You're tall, and in (self-reported) great shape.

Pull a plough, eh? You must be all legs and glutes!!

Maybe.... but I really don't know! I love the outdoorsy sports, such as skiing, swimming, hiking, ocean swims, etc. I more swimmer shoulders and have some dwindly legs.

I wish we would not worry about these measurements, but self awareness of overall health however is VERY GOOD.

Although of course we want to look good too. I do (deeply) desire my night time almond butter and chocolate chip spoons, much more than being thin.

Same here re being out-doorsy. DW isn't much into the outdoors.

Being self aware for the right reasons, IS very good. The key to living a long, healthy life, is to take care of your physical and emotional states.

Who would desire yum foods over being thin? Lol.

Don't lose the boobs! You're DH will throw a fit!

That BMI lands you in the "underweight" category.

I'm 5'7 and 155 is basically my goal weight (I'm a little above it now due to a very recent pregnancy, but even at 165 I don't think anyone would call me fat, or even chubby, and I wear a size 10).

I’m 5’5” and weigh 165, but no one ever thinks I weigh that much. Even nurses at the doctor’s office have had me step back on the scale to make sure. I’m “sturdy” but def not fat.

This is the best description: sturdy. May we all be sturdy.

I'm 5'9 and weighed 140 when I got out of basic training 25 years ago. I was asked by a sailer "Good Lord child, were you in boot camp or a concentration camp"? 160 is my goal weight.

I'm 5'8.5" and I weigh 158-164 (weigh myself every morning, and that's my range for the last few months).

I wear size 12 dresses and pants. And thanks to spanx, I look curvy instead of pudgy.

But I feel fat. I'm carrying around an extra 10lbs that just won't come off since I hit my mid-40s.

I looked great before I had my last baby. I was 145, and a size 8-10. Sigh.

I bet you look stunning. 10lbs isn't even that big of a difference. But if it bothers you, add more cardio to your daily routine. It will help sheds some lbs.

I'm this poster- female. I was 140ish until I hit 40, and gained some. (Unresolved thyroid issue.) when I used to run marathons, I got down to 135. My arms were so veiny and you could see most of my ribs. People would tell me to eat. I was eating a ton, but burning off all of it.

Weight is so, so variable. I definitely liked my body better at 140 but I am adjusting to 155. At 46, metabolism is an issue!
