Sorry if this is stating the obvious, but these areas off Georgetown Pike no longer sound like the "nicer neighborhoods." In 2018, less car-dependent neighborhoods with more commuting options are "nicer." |
Maybe to you. |
+1 Yup. Blame the rich people. How convenient. And transparent. For those who think Langley is not carrying you - how cute. |
NP here. Not a good look for you “Langley people.” |
LOL— because metro is dependable here!!! LOL |
+1000. Whiny rich people wanting to offload their first-world problems on others is just embarrassing. |
| The VDOT engineer said the conditions he witnessed at the GEorgetown Pike ramp intersection was “some of the most aggressive driving I’ve seen in the US.” Let’s hope one of those MD drivers doesn’t kill a kid walking home from Cooper. To the poster above, That sure would be a horrible “first-world” problem. |

Ooh, interesting attitude. |
+1 Fact. |
Laughable - about as convincing as the claim that Langley “carries a good chunk of Fairfax.” What babies. |
Namecalling is not helping your cause. |
If you are actually interested in improving pedestrian conditions at the intersection of GTown Pike and Balls Hill Road, there is a lot that FCDOT and VDOT could do. Make the crosswalk more visible. Eliminate the slip and add a pedestrian bulb out to reduce the crossing distance. Maybe even get rid of the left turn lane and add a pedestrian island instead. Of course that might slow traffic even further. |
It's your "cause," and the support for the change is not there. "But when VDOT officials discussed the idea at an Aug. 2 community forum at McLean High School, the overwhelming majority of the roughly 280 people who showed up strongly opposed the proposed ramp closure." https://www.insidenova.com/news/arlington/vdot-plan-for-i--georgetown-pike-draws-community-pushback/article_90f68498-98a6-11e8-a2f3-f39f2cb47246.html |
| VDOT can always widen Georgetown Pike. |
