Cycle after chemical pregnancy?

Anonymous
I had a chemical pregnancy too. My period came last month five days late. I tested positive at home, negative at the doctor's (evening urine) and positive with the blood test. I had my HcG tested after my period and it was below .5. Everyone seems to make light of it in the medical field.

I now figured that I would have a normal cycle because I was only 5 days late. I am now a week late a month later. I feel pregnant again. The home tests are negative. Now I am afraid to go to the doctor because they will think I'm crazy. I am 42 years old and trying to have another round of children with my new husband.

I just don't know what to think. But I could use a good cry. Must be hormones!

How do you count the cycle after a chemical pregnancy? I think I am going through one right now as I had a pos hpt and dr's office test too, but am now bleeding. It's on and off but bright red.

In any case, what day is day 1 of your next cycle? I started bleeding on Wed night (4/21) on and off through the next day, then stopped Fri, Sat and Sun. It was back again today, Mon morning. It is bright red, but definitely not as much as my typical period, but definitely more than what I'd think spotting is.

This is the OP of this thread. The cycle after mine was very strange. I was monitoring for ovulation and it didn't happen that cycle. It did happen on the next cycle and I conceived. She's 14 months now.

I was charting and not simply counting days. I considered day one a few days after the bleeding began, trying to adjust for the effect of the low level of hcg in my system. Once the bleeding started for me, it got heavy within 48 hours and continued for a week.

So when you were charting after the CP did your temps just stay low until you bled again and then temps followed regular cycle? I had a CP on 3/30 and still don't have my period. I had gotten tired of charting so had taken a break after the CP but plan to start again tomorrow - just wondering what to expect.

I had two separate lead-ups to ovulation, complete with cervical mucus, but my temp never rose. I think that cycle was 5 or so weeks long and the next one was normal.

I am going through the same thing. I conceived some time around 3/17 and had a chemical pregnancy on 4/11. (for reference I'm 39 years old). I bled for a few days then got back to business with my partner. Now I am late again, my breasts are sore, I'm ravenous, exhausted - many of the same symptoms as a period - except that mine is late, and I've taken 5 hPT's and all have come up positive. I will consult with my doctor to find out what is going on, as I find this situation extremely confusing!!

I *think* I may have had a chemical pregnancy, but could really use some input. As soon as my period was late (my husband and I have a 3mos window in which to conceive if possible this year), I took a pregnancy test and got a faint line. I waited another 2 days, and got a darker line. less than a week later, I started spotting/bleeding/period which I assume means it's over.

(this may be TMI - I'm sorry!)
I had blood for less than a day with a small chunk of tissue or two - but honestly not enough to soak through a pantyliner. Since then I've had some pink to buff brown discharge, but again, I have barely made a mark on the pantyliner. I usually have a light period, but this is nothing comparatively and there is way less cramping. I usually am about 4/wks for a cycle, and this started at 5/wks... which I should mention I really do think I was pregnant because I had about 2 weeks of mild nausea, tender breasts, increased sweating while exercising, and what felt like slightly lower blood pressure - and some slight pink discharge right around when implantation should have occurred. Now I'm just trying to figure out if this is now over, and if I'll have another opportunity to try before my window of opportunity is closed. I know the easiest thing would be to find a Dr., but I haven't found a good one yet.

Anyway - what does this sound like to you? I am charting my temperature, and it has not fallen to period levels (it's still high). Should I just wait 2 weeks and see if I ovulate/take another pregnancy test?

It's such a disappointment, and very distracting not being 100% certain what is going on.

I had never heard this term before I had one, and I found it very insensitive that my doctor acted like it was no big deal. Have a new doctor now and am trying again.

I would agree with a chemical pregnacy is a miscarriage. I just went through this just this week and I was devastated. We have been trying to get pregnant for a few months and I took a test because I was three days late. I found two pink lines and was very excited. This would be my third baby and we were already thinking of names. Come to find heavy bleeding a few days later scared me. I went to the dr to find out it was a chemical pregnancy. I went through the grieving process just like anyone else. It doesn't matter how far along you are....if the egg is fertilized it is a baby no matter what! I know God has bigger plans for my husband and I and I put it in his hands completely!

i had five m/c, and the recent one was a C/P. I was confused when the doctor told me that is was a C/P. I was 5 weeks. My previous m/C i was 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 9 weeks and another 6 weeks. Every M/C hurts no matter how far the pregancy was. I had the C/P M/C just 4 weeks ago and my period is late by two days. I feel some Pregrancy signs, but that could be my AF. I don't want to test to get my hopes to high, but i will wait one week to see if my AF will come.

I'm in the same boat. I had a c/p and now I'm at day 25 in my cycle and still have not ovulated I have had cm that was fertile and then not and fertile and then not and my temps are just like my pre-ovulation temperatures. I guess I won't ovulate this month. My husband and I were TTC this month even though we weren't when I got pregnant, lol. Guess it just isn't meant for us right now. It seems like post people have a fairly normal cycle after a c/p but a few like me have some wacky stuff and no ovulation. So frustrating!

Well for me, all the home tests I took came out negative. After which, I had a blood test which was a weak positive...
For me now, what I'm wondering how I begin to count my cycle; do I start from the period that came as a result of the miscarriage? Do I count from when I started spotting? Or from when it became worrisome?
Thanx

I had a REALLY REALLY heavy period last month, but never thought anything of it. Now this month I am 7 days late as of this moment, and every pregnancy test I have taken says Negative? Could I have had a CP last month and missed my period this month because of last month?

PP it's possible and maybe your ovulation timing is a bit off, I had a cycle like that and it turned out I ovulated on day 22 and I had always o'd by day 15.

I have a missed miscarriage followed by a D&C in sept 2010. I went off BC 2 mo ago or so. My LP was April 25th. I took 4 HPT all faint lines on may 26. Yesterday (june 2) I started spotting. Today I've had a heavy flow (heavier than my normal period and severe cramps... worse than normal) and major lower back pain. I'm thinking I had a chemical pregnancy. Has anyone had this sinario followed by some sucess? We'll continue TTC and hope for the best but I don't want this to happen again. It's no fun getting your hopes up for this beautiful dream and then having it taken away. :'(
