OP here. Don’t see that it’s relevant, but our child was excessively bickering with our other child. We were handling it. MIL was taking the side of one child over the other.

Actually, if you read with an open mind and not knee-jerk defensiveness, there are plenty of people on here who know how to gracefully walk the line between doormat and steamroller--it's called Kind with a Backbone.
