| I hope it's an open adoption, if that's what the birth mother wished. Congratulations to the birth mother as well for bringing life into this world and being so selfless as to offer a child for adoption whom she presumably didn't feel she could raise at this time. Never forget the other parents in the adoption family. |
Trayvon went to DCPS. |
Hahahaha |
Wow! No wonder they’re out of touch |
You got his name tragically wrong.
|
The spelling error shouldn't preclude "You can tell" as an obvious response. |
I'm not defending her as a mayor, but I think this speaks more to our society and the lack of compassion and understanding for new moms, and new dads too. I wish her and baby well, and wish it was acceptable for new parents, including ones with high profile jobs, to take time off. |
|
The baby is a girl, and her name is Miranda.
The mayor can have as much flexibility in her schedule as she needs (perks of office) and has all her extended family in the area. I think she and the baby will be just fine. |
Ha, exactly. As a DCPS supporter, I am disappointed to learn that Trayon White may be the only Council member to have attended a DCPS (Ballou). What an endorsement.... |
+1000. If she were taking more time off, people would say she's taking too much. Damned if she does; damned if she doesn't. Just goes to show how women are judged unfairly and unduly harshly for their parenting/career choices. Congrats to the Mayor, and best of luck as a new working mom. |
Not sure many middle class families attended DCPS back then, outside of perhaps JKLM etc. schools. |
Why would only people from middle class families be in the running for Council? I think this says more about candidate recruitment than anything else. |
Yeah, my first thought was, she's nuts and it's not good for us as a city to have a newly single mom mayor. Then I remembered that my hero is Tammy Duckworth. Who I just like better politically. But just because I don't like Bowser as mayor doesn't mean I shouldn't be proud and excited that she's breaking through this barrier. |
I’m happy you came along in your thinking but it’s sad that your first instinct was so negative but positive with Duckworth. It shows why so many people’s first instinct is to discriminate against new mothers. |
The bar used to be to send their own kid to DC schools, but now your want a prerequisite that they attended DCPS 20-40 years ago? You people are pathetic. |
