And I would imagine this cements the fact that Shepherd won't be losing its Deal feed anytime soon (jk - needed to make it relevant to this board).

You aren't wrong. this makes me feel more sure about shepard park too!

She’ll be a great mom. But this kills any chance of meaningful changes to fix Deal/Wilson overcrowding while she is still Mayor. Sigh.

I wonder if she'll eventually get rid of the OOB feeder rights to Deal/Wilson, though. That would help some.

As a recent SP buyer, I also feel very good about this. And happy for the mayor too, of course

The Bowser administration is corrupt in a lot of ways, but honoring an existing feeder pattern is not one of them.

It did kill my career, but hopefully she’ll have better luck.

She's running unopposed.

Right, but then there is that pesky “doing the job” part. But again, I hope it works out well for her. It’s a balancing act, as we all know. I’m glad I wasn’t mayor. It was difficult enough being “random professional.”

More than likely she will hire a nanny or has a lot of family help.

Yes, but I will tell you that you don’t wait 45 years for a newborn only to hand over the majority of care to someone else.

Again, I hope she finds a balance.

You may not but many people do.

Until the election at least. She does know that the baby will require attention beyond the election right? The kid is not a yard sign.

She's my neighbor. I wonder whether she'll send the child to our IB, Shepherd, in three years, or go private.

I guarantee she will send baby to Shepherd.

Nah I bet she’ll go private. Like fancy, 30k a year private.

that's not particularly "fancy." closer to 40K and that doesn't include extras like fees and extended care.

I know you want to block the 40 (mostly brown) kids that come from Shepherd elementary each year, but cutting Shepherd will not result in a meaningful change.

Do you believe that they will remain only 40 a year, and, for that matter, mostly "brown", as the current and future PK classes advance towards Deal/Wilson, considering SP's changing demographics and increasing popularity of the school?

If it's done because of her newfound self-interest, it is.

She is a product of Catholic schools, including a Catholic university. If she were to send a child (who she has known for 4 days people!!!) to private, my money is on one of those schools.

You don’t think 160 fewer kids at Wilson would be meaningful? It would be a 9% reduction, overnight. So, very meaningful.

Are we sure the child is a newborn and not older?

Will she take 12 weeks FMLA? Part of me wonders if she is trying to scale back her career with this move, but time will tell!
