Sorry but this isnt true. For the next five years, there shouldn’t be more than an additional classroom per grade at asfs due to losing neighborhood preference at key. That is easily cancelled out by the number of transfers from Taylor, so it would be a wash once the current transfers age out.
They were predicting a huge increase in the population around key, I don’t know if they got better numbers to change that and maybe that’s what killed the urgency.


That is 5 extra classrooms they don’t have. Like I said earlier, they will add trailers to the play area and call it a day. Which is nuts.

Parking is already a huge mess.

I don’t think they will touch IS.

The simulator is in the computer room - do they need that room for tests, etc? That could be one classroom. VPI classroom. That can maybe hold them over for another year or two (assuming biggest growth is at K level).

They already use every square inch of that building I can’t see where else they’d add another whole classroom. Put a roof over the courtyard?

Yes, kids at other schools have been in converted computer labs and other nonsense for years now. Internal modifications to max space are the first step, then trailers. I don't think they allow trailers on parking lots, though. Unless they close the lot to all parking. It's a safety issue. And transfers won't be allowed any longer. It's possible that current kids will be grandfathered in, but they may be sent to another school if there's a boundary change. There will be no new transfers allowed.

Indeed. My son was in a small, windowless room for 2nd grade. He lived. He even managed to grow a few inches despite the lack of sunlight.

The flight simulator is in a room that could fit max 12-15 students on a regular basis and that’s it.

This may be the right answer, but they need to get better data first to confirm it. After all, those Spanish-speaking families clustered along Columbia Pike near Carlin Springs are roughly a mile from Claremont as it is, and yet they're not applying to the program in droves. What about a move to Carlin Springs, still a mile away just in a different direction, would fundamentally change that?

Right, because a lot of working class Spanish speaking immigrant families do NOT want their kids speaking Spanish in school. I shared this before, but my MIL's first language is Spanish and she refused to teach any of her kids Spanish because she wanted them to be as American as possible. I think it would be easy to send out a survey asking folks what their first language or household language is and then asking them if they would be interested in Spanish immersion.
