Why the hate for Baby Boomers?

It seems like younger people think that baby boomers had wealth drop out of the sky. Boomers have wealth from decades of working and investing. If you are young you will have wealth, it will take time, just stick with it. Also, if your parents are boomers you will likely inherit from them. We got nothing from our parents estates, because there was nothing left.

Stop whining.

Hah. I love my parents and my inlaws but both have said they're dying penniless. Both sets inherited hundreds of thousands of dollars when their parents died too so that's the hypocritical part.

Baby boomers mucked up the Earth. My biggest grouse is their utter disregard for the enviornment. The most selfish generation ever. + they voted for Trump.

The Boomers have mismanaged this country and left us with unaffordable housing, college, and going bankrupt social security. And a dying planet.

They are sucking all the juice out of this world and leave us with the husk.

They spent all their grandparents money, all their parents money, all their own money, all their kids money, and are now running up debts to steal their grandchildren's money.

All of this to fuel their own pointless hedonism.

They inherited utopia and bequeathed us a hell-hole.

Fck you, Boomers.

Sincerely,

Generation X

YES - totally agree. My best friends dad and step mom (his secretary that he had an affair with which ended his first marriage) have always lived to 'keep up the appearance' of a very wealthy lifestyle - which was totally unsustainable. Now he's constantly calling his kids to help pay their bills: "I'm your father... you owe me... look at everything I've done for you..."

The Baby Boomer lifestyle is a very fancy house of cards built on sand.

+1 I refuse to buy property from them. They will not enjoy my hard earned down payment, ever.

If you don't invest in real estate, please invest in something while you are young and time is on your side. Stocks, bonds, gold, etc. Real estate is usually a safer investment, hedge against inflation and great tax shelter on gains - DC is an expensive place to start however. Buy a starter home with some land under it. It will make you 'lucky financially' and keep a roof over your head. If you don't invest well your children may have to take care of you in your old age.

We are planning to buy but we'll buy from a Gen X or Millennial, anyone but Boomers!

Actually the air and water is a lot cleaner now than when I was a kid. Google that. I am a boomer and didn't vote for Trump, but I know a few boomers who didn't vote at all and so they in fact helped Trump win. Anyone who is too lazy to vote, is selfish IMHO.

My parents had a HHI of around $15k in the early 1980s and topped out around $130 by retirement age. My dad paid for college with money from summer jobs and PT work during semesters. They never had to rent, even with no help from family or inheritances. Housing and college are killing the current generation of young adults.

Maybe your besties Dad is just a dick. In my family and DHs family, the only divorces have happened with our generation's offspring (Millenials) and I wouldn't indict all Millenials base on a few people who couldn't stay married.

College and housing costs are legit challenges but think about all the things that previous generations had to deal with that you don't.

And on top of all this, we also have to constantly explain the Google to them.

Yes Yes Yes.
Thinking of this on a personal level, my own parents COULDN"T WAIT to get the inheritance from their own parents. Once they got it they immediately went out and SPENT SPENT SPENT on luxury cars and vacations. But of course, they are very quick to tell us (their adult children) how they don't owe us anything and not to expect any kind of inheritance, etc. Boomers believe that everyone owes them, yet they owe nothing to anyone.

Of course I think about all the advances in medical care, equal opportunities for women, etc. I was speaking solely about the economic ability to access higher education and affordable housing.

LOL. Go ahead. It's better than being "f'ed" like you.

I don't like them mostly because money came first and then the environment and people. I've literally heard people say that they will take a 2-hour showers because they want to and they are Americans and Americans are rich.
And who the hell writes checks in a grocery store anymore?
