As a Jew I really fear if he has to resign it will only embolden left wing antisemites . He’s s bigot, we know that.

I wonder if people would be reacting differently if this was a white male councilmember...

If you only focus on the anti-Semitic aspects of White's remarks, you are missing half the picture (and, arguably, the larger half). He espoused a conspiracy theory that is stupid beyond belief. It would have been no less stupid if he had accused Barack Obama of controlling the weather. The anti-Semitism was simply the icing on the cake, but the cake itself was disqualifying. If you focus on the bigger picture, this may be less likely to provoke an anti-Semitic backlash (from any quarter, not just the left).

Yes.

We would be calling him a racist and a disgrace and demanding immediate resignation.

But he's black, so he will stay in place and be reelected and in due time he will get a statue.

Long live racism and double standards.

They’ll blame Jews.

I agree with this so much. When he blathers about being a Resilient City, he exposes just how unqualified he is for the position he holds.

If he stays on the Council as a marginalized and ineffective council member that is Ward 8's problem, I could live with that.

Exactly.

Although I give it 24 hours until Ari Fleischer is whining on Twitter about all the anti-Semitic Dems and lack of coverage.

You deserve what you get DC. Can the council get any more dysfunctional? Schools? Hospitals? Spending?

On Feb. 27th he said the same thing to a full meeting of council with mayor present and no one batted an eyelash.

DC's budget has been in the black for almost 20 years. We have a budget surplus and "rainy day" fund that most jurisdictions drool over.

Yes, there are issues, and we are working on it.

The finances are that way in spite of, not because of, the council. It's all the millenials moving in, and they don't mind the dysfunction in schools and hospitals since they don't really use them.

He didn’t say exactly the same thing. Rather, he said the Rothschilds control the World Bank and the Federal government. As you say, nobody there, which included Mendelson and Bowser, batted an eye.

Democrat politicians in DC city government are their own brand of crazy.

Im an old school proud Democrat who has lived around the country and been very active in politics. When I moved to DC I registered as an independent because I can't abide the bat-shit crazy city pols in DC like this fool. I voted for Catania over Marion Barry Bowser.
