Songs that make you cry/tear up

The Dance - Garth Brooks. And I don't even like country music.

Other songs that do this to me are "I hope You Dance" by LeeAnne Womack, "Sand & Water" by Beth Nielsen Chapman and "At 17" by Janis Ian. Oh, "and, "who Wants To Live Forever," by Queen

Omg. Castle on the hill does it for me as well. Especially the end where he talks about his friends.

+1. I love the line "these people raised me."

Peabo Bryson "Can You Stop The Rain". Came out the same time a friend from college was murdered by her boyfriend. She was 24.

This is a great thread. Second Fire and Rain. My godfather died in a plane crash and that song always makes me cry.

“You’ve got a friend” does it as well.

I was coming to post this song. This song not only makes me cry, but makes me feel guilty as $hit for all of the times I am 'too busy' to do stuff with my kids. I actually refuse to listen to it because it depresses the hell out of me.

- the guilt of a working mom

My husband won't listen to that song either. He used to like it (in a non personal way) when he was in college and married.

But once we had sons, followed by a very demanding job assignment, he won't listen to that song.

Mine is Wake Me When September Ends.

My mom died unexpectedly at the end of August, and the next few weeks my dad started proposing online to a bunch of rent a brides. I was in my third trimester and could barely function. I remember driving on the beltway home from an OB appointment two weeks after we buried her when that song came on. I was sloppy crying all the way from Bethesda to the mixing bowl. It has been years and anytime that song comes on a tear comes to my eyes.

Arms of an Angel, Sarah MacLachlan

Oh man, you just gave me a serious high school flashback! Both of those were on my "sad mixtape". Class of 1994 or so?

Same here! I loved that song from The Crow!

Adding:
Why worry, Dire Straits (sort of hopeful in a weird way, like life can't get any worse than this so that means it can only get better ... Right?)

Patty Loveless, How Can I Help You Say Goodbye (cheesy, but I first heard it at a funeral for a baby, and it has made me bawl every since)

The Dance Garth Brooks makes me cry
Will not listen to Cat’s in the Cradle. It made me sad as a child and now I feel guilty as a mom and daughter. Ugh just no.

Hurt- Johnny Cash's version. It's the video that really gets me.
