Songs that make you cry/tear up

Maybe these four:

“Sweetness Follows” by REM
“The Only Living Boy in New York” by Simon & Garfunkel
“Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac
“Sugar Mountain” by Neil Young

Someone mentioned “I Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer” by Stevie Wonder. Haven’t heard that song in years -scared to think what it could do to me.

I don't know the name of the song, but I ugly cried when I listened to "I'll be home for Christmas... if only in my dreams" and was holding my sleepy sweet baby boy during his first Christmas. I kept thinking about all those barely-adult soldiers off in a war zone, with their moms at home thinking about them.

What gets me is “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” when they use the original lyrics. The “muddle through” gets me ready EVERY TIME.

Someday soon we all will be together
If the fates allow
Until then, we’ll have to muddle through somehow

Blame Frank Sinatra for the cheery BS that is “Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.”

“As Martin recalled later, Sinatra objected to the “muddle through” line.

“The name of my album is ‘A Jolly Christmas’,” Sinatra purportedly said. “Do you think you could jolly up that line for me?”

In the jollier Sinatra version, which became the standard, the “muddled” line was replaced with “Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.” It’s a stilted line, out of character with the conversational tone of the song, but it can’t be called depressing.”

You ought to listen to the version done by Disturbed. It is quite possibly the most hauntingly beautiful song I've ever heard. (There was also a team who skated to it in the Olympics).

One More Light by Linkin Park.

My brother died of an overdose before Chester Bennington died and I cry every time I hear this song.

DP. I like both versions but for me, nothing will ever top the original by S&G.

Mine is Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA. It’s such a corny song but my mom used to cry when she listened to it when I was a teen, and now as a parent I understand why.

Since we are going ABBA “I have a dream”

+1
So sweet and I love the children's voices.

Silent Night. It was never my favorite Christmas song, but when we sing it on Christmas Eve in our church, we do it by candlelight only and oh my goodness. Every year, I almost lose it.

I'm so sorry. This was very recent. The memories of my brother are silly stuff like The Dead Milkmen songs. How many people cry at "Everybody's Got Nice Stuff but Me"?!?! I hope you get to a place where you can not hurt so much.

Five More Minutes-Scotty McCreery

The guy in the office next to mine plays it at least two times a day and I almost lose it every time
