Exactly! The only people this should offend are white supremacists.

The word "Resist" is a battle cry word against Trump's policy. So by saying "Resist" they are indicating they are against specifically the white supremacy that has struck up as a result of Trump. White Supremacy existed before Trump, but by using the word "Resist" they are tying white supremacy to him. One could make the argument then that if people support Trump they are a white supremist and we should resist against them. Which is what many people are doing.

I honestly just thought they were literally saying "Resist White Supremacy" nothing to do with Trump or GOP.

If you saw a sign that said "Resist Equal Pay For Women"...
Who do you think that would upset the most?
Women and those who advocate for women rights probably, right?
That's who that sign offends and thus it would upset them the most.
Makes sense.

If you saw a sign that said "Resist Political Correctness it's Retarded"...
Who do you think that would upset the most?
Individuals who are cognitively disabled and the friends/family members/advocates of those who are intellectually challenged probably, right?
That's who that sign offends and thus it would upset them the most.
Makes sense.

So based on those examples, a sign that says "Resist White Supremacy"...
Who do you think that would upset the most?

Take your time.

Fairfax Underground misses you. Feel free to head back anytime.

I'm not from FF Underground. I know it's hard to grasp this with your feeble mind, but there are millions of Conservatives in this country and I'm one of them, with opinions, and we don't hang out on FF underground.

You might be a conservative politically but you are also a white supremacist.

Do you literally call every conservative a white supremacist? Did you miss the part where I am not white?

Different poster. You said lefties are just as bad or worse than the KKK. You called white supremacy a straw man. Who cares if you claim to be a minority? Your stated opinions are those of a white supremacist sympathizer, period.

Having the opinions that *Crazy* *extreme* lefties are just as bad or worse than the KKK does not make me a sympathizer. In fact, I despise the KKK and I despise the extreme Liberals as well. It is poor logic to assume that to be against White Supremacy you MUST believe that there is nothing worse. In fact, there are worse things, in my opinion. It is super irresponsible to be throwing around "white supremacist" as a casual insult like you do.

Nobody said there is *nothing* worse than white supremacy. But calling it a straw man that you are over sure makes you sound like a sympathizer. Frankly, I love that you find this sign so provocative. It's bugging some of my conservative relatives, too; and they're twisting themselves into pretzels trying not to spew their normal soft racism.

Also: you said "You socialist nutjob lefties...F you all." So, you're not in a position to complain about casual insults.

Yeah but I would argue you either have your head in the sand or you're very naive about how Liberals perceive and refer to conservatives. It's gotten out of control.

The (good) argument that someone gave is that "White Supremacist" is used by many on the Left to call names on anyone Conservative, so if you are conservative and *not* a White Supremacist, it might still be offensive, in a similar way to how perhaps many (some?) on the Left might feel if Cox Farms put up a "Resist Commies" sign - even if some Liberal voters are not communists, they understand that that term is often applied broadly to the entire political party and will thus be offended/feel negatively.

I'm a conservative and not a racist but I do understand the unstated implications and meaning behind the term. Just in this thread alone I've been called a white supremacist for simply stating my conservatism. I know a lot of you Liberals will pretend ignorance but there it is.

Just wondering, with your sensitivity to unstated implications, what your position is on monuments to the Confederacy? Are they offensive? Or just people celebrating their heritage, and people who see "unstated implications and meanings" are liberal snowflakes?

Who couldn't get behind that one?

They would lose the entire Liberal Northern Virginia base, if people were honest and knowledgeable about themselves.

Haha, funny!

But seriously, aren't supremacists of any sort just people who think they are better than others?

And they would be wrong, and exactly why this Cox farms sign is offensive to many Conservatives, even those who are moderate and not supportive of the KKK.

LOL. You can't win, can you? Poor little Conservative can't figure out how to denounce white supremacy without losing your Conservative credentials. The word "resist" means you can't support it on principle! That would be capitulation! You've thrown your lot with the Trumpsters if you can't figure this one out anymore.

So apparently no one is allowed to use the word "resist" anymore because, in the minds of conservatives, it conjures up images of citizenry opposing Trump?

When did the United States become a monarchy? I wasn't aware that we needed to swear fealty to the newly crowned Sun King.

"Nobody" - you said it (if you were the PP) when your only supporting statement to calling me a "white supremacist" was that I said crazy liberals are worse. Notice I said "let's be against crazies on both sides," which you casually ignored. Don't back peddle and stop calling everyone a "White Supremacist."

You said white supremacy is a straw man, too. Talk about back pedaling--you've ignored that part of your quote several times over. Also ignoring the point about getting upset about name calling and then reverting to calling folks in this thread "you socialist nutjob leftties."

republicans and conservatives are giving cover to white supremacy. And their policies are racist.

So, yes, I KNOW I'm better than anyone who believes those things are ok.

I'm a moderate conservative. I gave an explanation about why that sign is "offensive" to a lot of conservative because someone asked. Now, "sensitivity?" No, I don't really care that much myself about the sign - it would be irritating to see for all the reasons I gave, but not "offensive." If you want a debate on monuments, start another thread.

Sorry, can you articulate again why the sign is offensive to a lot of conservatives? I don't think I understood your explanation, so can you please explain it to me in concrete terms?

Why is the sign "Resist White Supremacy" on private property offensive to a lot of conservatives?
