Boston, too!! Early '80s. Although I honestly don't remember if it was Lucy or suzie after reading all of these. But I absolutely sang along to this whole version. |
no, but we did "light as a feather, stiff as a board" and Bloody Mary |
Yes to all! What a flashback I'm having now lol. |
We did "light as a feather, stiff as a board" and Bloody Mary at slumber parties and girl scout retreats in Missouri in the 80s (and told ghost stories, always including the China doll with the long fingernails), but I've never heard of the egg/yolk thing. |
Miss Susie in Ohio! |
Did anyone say:
Early in the morning Late at night Two dead boys Got up to fight Back to back They faced each other Drew their swords And shot each other The dead policeman Heard their noise And came to kill The two dead boys If you don’t believe This lie is true Then ask the blind man He saw it too. Sounds so horrid and morbid now. But we just shouted it quickly and we’re pretty oblivious to how dark it was. Just felt like a taboo thrill. |
^^^ deaF police man |
We did the "milk, milk, lemonade, around the corner chocolate..."
And I admit I still giggle when I think back to it. |
We did this at slumber parties but no seeing diff colors - it was just a backrub type thing. The hallucinations must've been lost in the translation! ![]() |
NYC suburbs mid-90s! |
I don’t remember it eve saying anything about broccoli 😂😂 |
Exactly this except Miss Lucy, not Miss Susie. Philadelphia, late 1980s. We did it as a clapping game. We also did the Tiny Tim to the same tune. |
Ugh yes, the yolk. “Let the yolk drip down … let the yolk drip down …” And we did Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black … |
+1 This is it. You can change around the lyrics. Your kid won't know the difference. Also, kids don't take the lyrics literally. They're just silly words set to a catchy tune while doing clapping hand motions with your best friend or on the playground. |
So weird that someone brought back this thread from six years ago! |
