God, I wish our CouncilMembers would focus on quality of life issues--parking, beautification, schools, health care, daycare, homelessness rather than these big 'sexy' national issues. No one outside DC cares!!!!!
Not to take this way off topic, but we already pay down to PK3 and it should be expanded. We have the most generous homelessness package in the country, and health care/sick leave. We are about as progressive as it gets while still maintaining a positive budget situation. But what exactly do you want the Council to do about parking? There is limited curb space and more people who want to use it. IMO, it should cost $100 for the first car and $500 for the second to get RPP. The idea that everyone is supposed to get a free parking space in front of their homes is ridiculous. The "ward only' parking zone is even worse. All city residents pay for the roads, but to segregate certain areas away from all being able to use it is punative for both the residents and the businesses we are trying to support. Put meters there and exempt the local residents or something, but the current policy is stupid.
