You're kidding...

No, I'm in fact NOT kidding.

1) neither party should be punished for a willing transaction between two adults.

2) without patrons, how are these women supposed to earn a living if they've chosen to be a sex worker?

There should be nothing shameful about sex work. Not to the workers, or to the patrons. That's the whole point here. Why is that so hard to grasp?

I don't know how frequently you're having to use the services of a prostitute, but prostitutes are not "willing." They do not "choose" to become sex workers. And not only are many, many of them forced into it by circumstances, but many, many are tricked and trafficked into it. Frankly, anyone who feels the need to pay someone for sex knowing these facts is a reprobate. Legalizing prostitution doesn't fix the problems with its victims.

Not really true. They can work at Mcdonalds if they want. Legalize it and put these pimps out of business. Most prostitutes in countries with legalized prostitution are normal girls, not drug addicts. People are so up tight in this country, so I doubt you will ever see much legalized hooking in the US.

Have you seen the assessment test for Mcdonalds?

So, when will prostitution be legal in DC?

Your "facts" aren't really facts. Many women choose to do this type of work. Legalization is probably the best way to reduce the number of pimps scamming money from the hoes.

+1

Legalize it. License it. Tax it. Regulate it. Get the pimps out of it.

Sex work is honest work.

You honestly think all sex workers are doing it against their will?

What a prejudiced thing to say. You have no idea.

Prostitution is already legal in some forms in the District of Columbia. DC Council members can hold full time jobs, including with entities that do business with/or are regulated by the District. They can also accept campaign contributions from DC government contractors.

I say bring back the pillory, stocks and whipping post for the prostitutes ... and the pimps.

I'm completely fine with this, however liberals, the latest trend they have is to make it legal for women to sell sex, but a crime for men to buy it.. That's wrong.

So, when can I schedule an outcall to my DC hotel legally?

I'm sure there are a few middle class women who graduate college and decide that between consulting, law school, and prostitution, they'll take the latter, but they are certainly not the majority. Most prostitutes begin doing this because they have no job skills and it pays better than McDonald's. But that's not really a "choice". I'd rather see us focus on providing better education and job training to people who would like it (men and women) than legalizing sex work.

You can provide better education by taxing prostitution. The money has to come from somewhere. Prostitutes will always. Some people would rather make $100 in an hour than $7.50.
