67K is outrageous. What a freggin' cash cow! |
Good point. |
Wait. What about Title IX prohibits Emory University from offering the programs it does for undocumented immigrant students? |
I've read that thread and responded along with you. It's insane. We are outspoken about it but how many more will just silently not write the check? |
Title IX was passed in 1972. We didn't have swarms of ILLEGAL immigrants breaking our laws. |
Emory lied to college rankers for years, reportedly. Managed to up its ranking in the meantime though. |
My response was to a sweeping -- or sloppily worded -- claim about schools' money and their freedom. |
I can see why you think other people are stupid. This is a thread, a conversation. Everything is always in context. Or did you think I was also claiming Emory could use their donation money to hire assassins? (That would be illegal. It is an existing constraint. It was not in the topic of conversation. I did not specifically exclude it. I am doing so now. There are other constraints, as well. I am not specifying them. If you need them specified -- all of them -- I'm afraid I don't know how to help you. My apologies for that.) Of course there are constraints. There are not constraints in the way you want, and in the area we are discussing. If you want there to be constraints in the area we are discussing, you cannot make Title IX do the job. You will have to ensure that new legislation is passed. If you do that, do it with the knowledge that such constraints are a two-edged sword. In general, the people opposing this are people who oppose expanding the scope of the federal government's purview. If you actually do look forward to expanding the scope of the federal government's oversight, then you'd best get to passing that legislation for the area we are discussing. Have at it! ![]() |
Title IX does not cover immigration status. |
