But what I don't get is why y'all dress like Lance f'in Armstrong wearing a tight onesie with 18 brand logos. Note to self: you're not sponsored by Gatorade and no one at Starbucks wants to see your banana hammock in that Richard Simmons unitard that you think looks cool on your dad bod. It doesn't. Also, why the need to exercise in packs. Are you a wolf?

I don't wear lycra every time I ride, but I have worn it enough to know how functional it is. A. Its made of wicking fabric. B. Its more aerodynamic C. The pants are more comfortable.

So I don't really care what you think of what it looks like.

Also while I often ride without a group its fun to ride with friends. Also its functional - the lead rider reduces wind resistance for following riders, and riders in a paceline will take turns leading.

This tells everyone you don't get it, PP. What do you need to shave .4 seconds off your time for that gold medal at the finish line? What's the gold this week -- first dibs on the vanilla latte at starbucks?

I wear mine for comfort - at my speed aerodynamic effect is trivial (other than on days with a very high headwind). But for some people it matters - they want to get where they are going faster - they want to ride more comfortably in traffic by going faster and thus delaying cars less - or yeah, they want to train for races, or just go fast. Its actually fun to go fast on a bike, you might want to try it some time.

AFAICT many runners seem to prefer going fast.

Super- get some lycra that allows you to go 50 on the 45 mph roads! And stay off areas with pedestrians. Perfect.

Wow, get off the roads, and get off the sidewalks/trails all in one line. Too bad I'm not playing "bike trolling bingo" right now.

And of course you are right, I would need to ride 50 MPH to not slow you down on a 45MPH road. Because, like, who drives within the speed limit? Also, damn those scofflaw cyclists - or something like that.

Everyone please burn your Redskins, Nats and Caps jerseys unless they sponsor you. Don't get me started on the Yankee, Mets and Red Sox posers.

Analogy fail. The right analogy would be guys who play softball who are decked out in eye black, official Nats' jersey and shorts, stirrups, and cleats with official MLB sponsors. That would be pretty stupid looking too.

What's even worse are parents who are at their kids sporting events dressed like they are part of them team. For example fat ass dudes in soccer pants and stadium jackets. Or parents at wrestling matches wearing penn state wrestling gear

Or people swimming laps in a swimming pool dressed up like Ryan Lochte. Oh, wait...

I never, ever, ever wear running clothes covered in stupid logos because like 99.99% of bikers, I don't have a sponsor. I'm just a recreational runner. I wear shorts and a tshirt. I don't demand my share of the sidewalk. I yield to literally everyone when I run. I don't show up at Starbucks with 25 of my friends after a morning run just to be sure I am seen.

Cyclists are completely obnoxious on the road. Yes, we know you can take the lane. We know you feel persecuted. We know you need the world to see you exercise. Just don't act surprised that people loathe you. Because truly, very few things incite rage in me like a cyclist.

Wow. You finished a *whole* marathon? You must be very fit.

This last poster is an a-hole. What, you don't have any hobbies that you take seriously and enjoy doing as well as you can? I think the PP "get's it" just fine. He's doing something he enjoys, while you come across as just bitter.

PP is right.

The truth of the matter, is that trails and roads in our area were NOT designed to handle the kinds of speed that these wannabe Tour de France guys go. Trails have speed limits. They are far too narrow, curvy, and trafficked. Slow the hell down - your ride is not a damn race.

Well, but sure, that's why we ride on the road.

Do you dress like this whenever you drive your car? No?

That would be how ridiculous you look in your branded jerseys, cyclists. You look absurd.

I'm tired of people using the public roads in a way that causes me even the slightest inconvenience. After all, roads are only for my particular mode of transportation. Such a sense of entitlement.

My parents run in many races (running, not cycling). They receive a lot of branded clothing, I guess I should tell them not to wear this clothes

Right in DC near Tidal Basin. Was not the first time. The least these insane cyclists should be worried about is criticism over their goofy shirts. They should be worried about the come-uppance they are due when some pedestrian is hit . . .

There are jerks who ride bike, jerks who drive cars and jerks who walk.

Keep telling yourself that. Never ever seen but a couple of jerk pedestrians, but so many idiots on their bicycles that they are as bad as the car drivers. The car drivers don't wear the little tight shirt though.
