OMG - Declan an AA name? Clearly I'm way too Irish because all the Decs I know are little white boys with fair, fair skin. |
This may give you some insight into naming trends http://swistlebabynames.blogspot.com/2009/06/name-to-consider.html |
I'm sure you're right that it will shoot up in popularity. Heck, I might change my own name! |
I'm pretty sure no race/nationality has any absolute right to particular names. If I want to name my child Francesca or Augustino or Zahra or even Declan, isn't that my business?

OP,
I did got my son's name from my favorite character of my all-time favorite TV show, and I had no trouble telling people where I got it from. I still think it's the best name no matter what. |
I am burning with curiosity .... Gilligan? Sanford? Archie? Willis? Spock? Jethro? Kramer? Chandler? Ross? |
Why so nasty? Isn't her child's name her business? |
Still burning ....
Norm? Cliff (Claven or Huxtable)? Hannibal? Bosley? Moe, Larry, Curly? |
Not nasty at all. Genuinely curious. |
Thanks! ![]() |
12:39 - You do not sound genuinely anything. |
I'm pretty sure I'm a better judge than you are of whether I am feeling genuinely curious. If you want to misinterpret my comment as nasty, there's nothing I can do to stop you. |
I actually thought it was a pretty funny response, not nasty. Deep breath and presume no malice aforethought in the PP's comment since she said there wasn't any intended. SO hard to interpret tone and other people's sense of humor in anonymous posts. |
OP, - time to find something more constructive to do with your time. |
I got my daughter's name from a movie. I don't mind telling people that's where it came from. |
