How many hours a week do you work? Do you travel with them? Do the parents have other household staff that you deal with on a daily basis?
[b]

I'm guaranteed 40 hours but usually work at least 60. I can work more hours if I want, if I decline they will ask the backup nanny. After the baby was one there were weeks I worked 80-100hrs with over nights but I am always free to say no to extra hours.

Yes we travel extensively.

Yes there is a house manager, house keepers, houseman and his wife who live on the grounds (she's a housekeeper), butler, chef, 4 security (there's about 10 who rotate shifts) and dog walkers etc.

[b]

I honestly haven't had a lot of crazy requests, just mostly crazy hours expected and lack of respect for my time off (but not in my current position)

A lot of Bonpoint and preteens with really great handbag collections. The bonus part is that I now have an amazing handbag collection because my bosses usually give me their hand me downs. They also buy me very nice bags as gifts, which is very generous.

Yes. Lots of boring wooden crap that is supposed to make us feel bad about our plastic crap.
[b]

Ha ha ha!! Yes!! There are a lot of wood toys and rocking horses. One family had a giant English pram that was impossible to maneuver.

[b]

It depends on the family but maybe 2-3hrs a day, but I'm always there with the parents. When they're in between projects and home all day I still work my full shifts. Two families had amazing hands on moms, but you wouldn't think that from their celebrity image. Those moms worked their schedule around the kids schedule. I like those jobs the most.

I always wonder about this when I see people with 10+ years in this type of job.
[b]

No kids and don't plan on having any. Love kids but I like to say goodbye on Friday and come back on Monday

So you get the weekends off? Are you on call?
[b]

Weekends off but I can pick up more hours if I want to work. I have first refusal for babysitting nights etc.

It there a look that families or agencies want in a nanny? Like, a certain age-range or weight? The stuff that has nothing to do with one's qualifications?

What a fascinating thread, OP! Thank you for starting it!

You must be a very responsible and clear-headed woman. How do you come across to the children and parents, do you think? Warm and fuzzy? No nonsense? Why do you think they hire *you* and not someone else?

[b]

They have a daytime Saturday nanny, Sunday is for family. I can work extra on sat night (time and a half) or Sundays if the parents are away or going out at night for an event. I also sleep over whenever the parents are away during the week.

So your family, therefore, work is in LA. How are you on DCUM? Looking for online forums to while away your time?

My niece has a former celebrity nanny in LA. Are you the nanny for a 7yo currently?

Yes. Clean cut, presentable, preppy. That's not my usual style, but that's who I am at work. Most also want someone athletic and a healthy weight, but I think that's true of any family.
