APS - NNAT2 scores

To put this in perspective, Stephen Hawkins estimated IQ was 160.

To the thread reviver, my child is in APS, has a WISC of 135 and has been identified but that's it. There's some reading/discussion thing that's a bit different and some differentiated math. APS gets the most and best out of most of the kids. and they fail special ed, GT, and outliers.

I"m also the person who questions an IQ of 158. IQ above 145 makes people different. It's obvious to kids and adults. I'm fascinated with high IQ ppl b/c i tend to work with them and they are different (and I say this as a "gifted" person with a doctorate !) I"m just not that smart.

I don't question that the PP's kid scored a 158. I think it illustrates the limitation of IQ tests. Kids who legitimately are in the 99.9 th percentile or above on either verbal or fluid reasoning tasks should stand out and be decidedly different from regular kids. When they don't, I wonder whether the kid is just very good at the specific tasks in the WISC without having the broader intelligence estimated by the WISC.
