Should president of the PTO also be a room parent?

To those of you this happened to, did you let anyone know you were disappointed in the decision?

No, who is there to tell. No one cares. But, I will not be going out of my way to help or donate anymore.

But you made it worse by lobbying for yourself since you didn't know the other parent. You really should be ashamed of your actions and fix it immediately. Let the other parent be the room parent and focus on getting to know the other families at the school and welcome their interest in volunteering. Fix it.

I don't think it's real, I think OP is just stirring up shit

Right--the person I would talk to is the person who made the shitty decision. And I'm not going to the administration to whine about the PTA for something like this. I'll just take my volunteer energy elsewhere.

Think of expanding the base of volunteers to help out the PTO... not take all the roles for yourself.

I'm assuming it was our teacher and if she cared, she would have been more inclusive of all parents.

It was the teacher, but the impetus was from the PTA president. So the teacher is given two names, the PTA president says that she thinks she'd be the best choice, and the teacher says, fine whatever, you really want it, great. I don't blame the teacher for not devoting a lot of bandwidth to this decision. I blame the PTA president for adding her name to the list and pushing to be chosen just because she didn't know the other mom who signed up.

Are you kidding me?!?!? Do you not see how horrible that is? Please let us know what school you're at so we can avoid you. You are clearly a toxic individual.

Yes. Let it go. You sound greedy and controlling which is why you are writing here --in hindsight.

A) I have the time and B) I have the resources to make a luncheon happen at a snap even if nobody contributes. It was sort of a fail-safe for all the classes to make sure the luncheon went on without a hitch. She was all "no, I got it" so I backed off and never became room mom or volunteered for anything else.

typing this out it seems ridiculous, but the few officers really hoarded EVERYTHING and administration let them and then whoops, their kids are older and nobody wants to help out...

I had a similar experience and had flashbacks to eight grade. So I backed off and volunteered in other areas of my life.
