No. I'm well aware that I don't need to keep a conversation going nonstop and lulls are okay. But some people are so horrible at holding conversations that one has to go with asking questions. Usually the person you're speaking with is self centered and doesn't ask questions in return or know how the flow of a conversation should go.

Then maybe just stop talking to them and go read a book, or take a walk. Or take the hint.

Sometimes you're forced to talk to someone like at a dinner party or social event. Clearly I wouldn't choose to stay and talk to someone like this if going on a walk or doing anything else were an option.

She is trying to have a conversation but lacking much in the social skill department that degrades to simple questions that can be answered in five words or less.
