Dealing with disappointment that your child doesn't want to do extracurricular activities or sports.

That is a great idea. More families should do this. Also, cross country kids are generally some of the smartest in the school - from what I gather.

The saddest part about parents obsessed with their kid's athletic career is that the kids are often mediocre at best - and 100% unappreciative of the time and money it all costs. And even if they're great there's only a 10% chance they'll play in college. I'm all for being active but this 365 day a year season crap is absurd. I don't bother w facebook anymore because it's just a constant deluge of parents bragging about the latest swim soccer lax etc. etc. tournament EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. I think it's all a big scam that sucks parents in. That or parents are just so bored it gives them something to waste their weekends on.
