I have known plenty of people who met at work and started dating once one left the company. At work, you are together with people of the same education level and career goals. How can you not be attracted? OP, my advice to women is golf lessons or cycling or the Sierra Club (though you are liable to meet guys with beards and flannel shirts). Anything that attracts outdoorsy types is mostly men. Also, don't be afraid to ask friends if they know of anyone. They do have brothers and cousins who might be looking for someone like you.

My ex hooked up with AP from work and no consequences. Guess it's different if you're a fed.

I completely disagree. I've worked at companies large enough where you can meet and date someone and never cross paths professionally. I do think Saint someone in your department could be a dicier proposition.
