But they also don't fit easily in the garages and they have to park pickups on an angle in the garage (which takes up two spots). Insane that the 50k F150 isn't allowed! The HOA rules are old and 20 years ago pickup trucks might have been more utilitarian. It's a ridiculous rule.

Why do you need a pickup truck? It's stupid an SUV or SEDAN is fine, go rent a parking space in a commercial area.

I fail to see how a pickup is any less nice than an SUV or a Hummer? Why should someone get to choose what kind of car someone owns. These are not commercial vehicles (obviously those are outlawed by HOA rules).

Still trashy

A pick-up truck is trashy? Really??

+1 How stupid.

I still see these all over Vienna/Fairfax split level neighborhoods. I HATE the wagon wheels in the yards. So 1960s/70s trashy. It was the age of faux colonial decorating.

Ahh, that's crazy - so it really was a trend! I've always wondered if some nutty board member made this rule up or if it was a real problem once upon a time.

Oh yeah, it was! You must recall the urban version too:

My main issue with the wagon wheels (they're all over Pennsylvania where my inlaws live) is that it makes lawn mowing messy. You need to weed eat around it constantly.

You'd think the ban on clotheslines would fall out of favor, now that it's common to support "green" practices. There are retractable clotheslines available.

They are covenants (contracts) that run with the land. When you buy the property, you agree to abide by the HOA rules.

And it keeps the self righteous, arbitrary enforcer, hypocritical crazies OUT.

This is a completely standard rule that's been in place in every community or condo I've lived in. It looks like crap otherwise. Trust me.
