You need to look a bit closer at Trump's business record. And you don't need to look all that close to realize how awful it is. But you do help confirm my suspicion that much of his support comes from confused Democrats. Spot on about Obama being a mistake, though.

??? Then who is voting for him in Republican primaries? Who are the registered Republicans that support him in the polls? Try again.

OP -- I think my dh may sometimes secretly vote Republican. I'm never 100% sure. He knows I'd be against the idea, so he keeps it to himself. Most white men do vote Republican. They want to "hold on to the power".

I said SOME, not ALL. Also, primary voters are not typical of general election voters. In the primaries/caucuses (many of which have been open primaries where Dems and Independents were allowed to vote in the GOP race), Trump's voters are a minority (somewhere between ~ 35% to 45% depending on the state) of GOP primary voters. It's a pretty diverse group, but includes everything from crossover blue collar Democrats to former Tea Partiers who are angry and disgusted over the feckless performance of Congressional Republicans after the 2010 and 2014 wave elections that brought the Senate and House back into GOP hands. There's also a smattering of White Nationalists and other racist groups (Storm Front has endorsed Trump, for example). But a much simpler breakdown of Trump supporters puts them into two camps: those who are voting for Trump out of pure anger and as a protest and/or in hopes of "burning down" the GOP; and those who actually believe him and are buying his snake oil. I can definitely understand and share much of the same sentiment as the first camp. Those in the second group are just too stupid to live.

Disgusted? That's an awfully emotional response. You should try being rational.

Disgusted by fire departments and public schools? Wow.

I see this idiotic meme that somehow local government services and road construction is socialist. You have no idea what socialism is, do you? If you're going to spout off about socialism you should at least read Marx. Socialism is government controlling the means of production instead of letting the free market do it. Socialism is nationalizing industry and banks. It's government ownership of everything. Socialism is taking over agriculture and land ownership and making private farms into collectives owned by the government. The farmers become tenants on government land who toil in the fields to meet government quotas. Socialism is government setting the price of goods and wages.

Building and maintaining roads and providing police and fire services are just basic government services that all forms of government provide. Crack a book, study some history. And not the garbage you were fed in public schools.

NP. Most Americans don't. I gave up on trying to educate the "educated" crowd around here. Literally, people, crack a book.
