Would you date a woman who didn't play video games?

Wow, of all the things to base a long term, serious relationship on- video games? LOL.

This is hilarious. OP- video games are a hobby, a past time. If a girl's hobby is scrapbooking or photography and should her partner also be interested in it?

It sounds like you want a long term FWB. A girl that you can play video games with along with have sex with.

Your not going to find a serious partner like that, but shouldn't have to many problems finding some women that are probably too young for you to play along for a little while.

Generally I associate people not playing video games with them being terrible bores who don't really want much out of life (to take an entire medium of art, one as rich and vibrant as music or literature if not more so, and just write it off entirely is a fairly extreme act), so I treat it as a major deal-breaker, but I'm curious if there are others who disagree. I'd do the same if they issued a blanket statement like "I don't listen to music" or "I don't read fiction" too, obviously.

Seriously??

Gamer wife from upthread. I don't necessarily agree that video games are high art, but there are definitely some that are pretty impressive. Photograph-level graphics, excellent music, creative storytelling, etc. It's not opera, but it's not NOT art.

Probably because I work my butt off to earn money for the household, so I think my man should too?

Video games have ability to mess with a psyche. They can replace real life experiences and relationships. They are addictive and can ruin your life. Instant gratification, all absorbing, stress relief. And gaming industry certainly targets men more then women, just look at female characters in any of those games.

Based on all that, men who are absorbed by video games make very unattractive parters. Who'd want to spend their life with a guy glued to a screen every free moment he gets? Not to mention drain on a bank account. No thanks!

But what happened to the men who liked women who played Dungeons and Dragons - ha? Is that out now too? What is the world coming to!

I don't get video games; I don't read fiction; music is... meh. I like the classical station in my car, but I would never sit in a chair and actively listen to anything.

Not a chance with OP. Oh well, my loss

(Seriously, is this for real?)

You're asking if this is real, when you're blithely noting that you have zero interest in art or culture? Shit, we should be asking if you're for real.

Same with porn, or alcohol, or anything fun. All things in moderation.

If your daughter's too busy to relax and have some fun at 16 you're doing something wrong.

Probably not. Most WOMEN look for MEN. Not boys.

Honey, this is DC. A single guy who's in his 30s with a steady job and a good body will have women breaking down his door.

Are YOU for real?

OP, what if I only played Animal Crossing?

Animal Crossing would remind me of the most heartwarming story I ever read, and make me fall deeply in love with you.

I switched one word in your sentence. See how dumb it sounds now?
