ADHD - Break it down for me.

BRAVA! You tell him. It's no one's business but your own.

Just wanted to say there is so much good advice on this thread...thanks all! Love the SN board, it's the only one I view for actual support and advice, instead of comedy

Me too. I just wish it had been around when I was trying to figure out my SN kids. Now I'm just amazed to see voices pop up and say "I have a 3 year old diagnosed with (insert 3 comorbidities)". We couldn't even get a clear diagnosis of much back then. And we had no idea where to find a developmental pediatrician or a GOOD therapist or even research on drugs. The internet has changed all of that. I come on to offer what I've learned over the last two decades struggling with these issues. I'm glad Jeff keeps it snark free.

My 9 yo has been in therapy for a year and has started on meds in the past few months, which seems to have helped the social issues. But now we think that he has ADHD on top. School isn't being very understanding - they think he needs to take more responsibility for homework and think he forgets homework and lies because he just doesn't want to do it (which may be true??). Its so challenging. He says he thinks he's a bad boy when he messes up.

13:50 you are new to the thread right? YOu haven't had a full NT workup right? It's time. Do you need referrals to testers or psychologists for testing? A lot of traditional schools are not understanding, especially when there isn't a diagnosis or document in front of them (and even then when a diagnosis is presented some of them don't want to try and teach a LD child).
