Really want to find a good coach for NNAT and CogAT

I can't believe no one has posted Sunshine Academy here. They have had prep classes for NNAT and COGAT since last summer and fall. The kids go every Sat. It is not on their website but I am on their email list so we get the notices. Note: We are not even in FCPS so we don't even take this test, and even I was like, "HUH?" when I saw Sunshine's emails about this.

I heard kids hate Sunshine Academy. An old lady hired Fairfax public school teaches to prep AAP tests all summer and now in a church nearby Fair Oaks Mall.

GT should be considered special education and treated accordingly. Truly gifted children have legitimate special needs that cannot be served in a program that serving mainly bright, compliant high-achievers.

You have a good point, but we all know there's no going back. As has been repeated very often on this board, AAP has gone from being for only the most gifted, outtside-the-box thinkers to a large number of very bright high-achievers (my DS being one of them) and parents will never accept scaling the program back now.

If AAP targets to top 3% or 5%, prep classes may not help much, sadly, if AAP targets to top 20~30%, prep classes will help dramatically. Average kids can get in easily with extra help.

Seeing the same thing with our 5th grade classes at our AAP Center. But the poster you are responding to will be targeting the Class of 2022 subset of Level IV AAP students for the next 7 years.

First, it's absolutely wrong to say AAP targets top 20-30%.
Second, top 3% nationally is roughly top 10-15% in FCPS.

Seeing the same thing with our 5th grade classes at our AAP Center. But the poster you are responding to will be targeting the Class of 2022 subset of Level IV AAP students for the next 7 years.

No, just the next three years. By high school, they will no longer be a "subset" of the class anymore.
