I am an atheist, ask me anything.

Not according to the law. Otherwise, sure.

Not the OP. Depends. What do you mean by a soul?

An immortal essence that existed before and/or exists forever with significance beyond your life and physical existence.

PP here. No. I don't believe I have something like that. However, the physical constituents of my body were initially formed in the Big Bang and subsequently fused into heavier elements in the cores of super novae, and they will exist and be recycled in some form for as long as this universe exists. I think that's pretty cool.

Anonymously or not?

OP here. No, I am uncomfortable around them though.

You realize you are pre judging them based on thier beliefs, isn't that what you don't want them to do to you.

Not the OP, but my answer would be: Only because they make their beliefs known. I'm perfectly comfortable with people who don't make their religiosity evident. I don't bring up my belief system in work or social situations, because it isn't relevant. People who do make me uncomfortable. Do you?

Since you don't have a soul. Is it ok to kill you like a bug or a mouse?

Since I don't think you have a soul, is it ok for me to kill you like a big or a mouse?

You can do anything you want -- you have free will.

Unless you are very crafty, I expect you will face some legal consequences, which might (depending on jurisdiction) include your own death at the hands of the State.

However, I don't believe you would burn in hell. Then again, if you're Christian and you express regret for your actions, neither do you.

No my logic and beliefs hold that I have a soul and my God has described murder of a human as a sin . If I were totally atheist I would logically conclude a mouse and human have equal universal value which is essentially nothing.

PP - should have written this as, "Since I as an atheist don't think you have a soul either, despite the fact that you think you do, is it ok for me to kill you as I would a bug or a mouse?"

So is the only thing that keeps you from killing other people the fact that your God said not to?

By what value structure are you equating a mouse and a person?

Do I make it known?

Like wear a cross or a Star of David... Or have Buddha on my coffee table?

That would make you uncomfortable?

+1

PP, so you have no innate ethics? The only thing stopping you from killing someone, is because of what your God said? There's nothing inside of you, innate in you, that compels you not to hurt someone? That's kind of terrifying.

So by your logic the soul is the only thing that gives an entity value?
