But he is expensive.

Don't worry. They have tons of assets.

Don't mean to kick someone when they are down but I wouldn't call HHI of 450k a "ton of assets'". Not in this town, anyway.

Why did you marry a man who has alcoholism in his genes?

So, if a potential mate's mother or father was/had been an alcoholic this would be a deal breaker for you? My father is an alcoholic and I am not? Nor do I drink beyond the occasional social beer.

How did you find out he cheated? I suspect my DH is cheating but I can't seem to put my finger on it and keep thinking I must be going crazy.

Don't feed the troll, PP. Truly, that post was too stupid to comment on. Let's ignore.

See lawyers and go through papers in the home office and start making lists of everything and photocopying everything before things disappear.

I don't think it's quite that easy to conflict a lawyer out of working for your DH.

It is, actually. I didn't know that either but they told us that on day 1 of ethics class in law school.

If there is verifiable adultery, you don't have to be separated for a year in VA.

Prepare for this as you would going in to defeat a competitor or going to war -- preparation is critical. However, during the 'fight' don't lose sight of the big picture. Think about the broad strokes of what you want and what you want for your kids.

Just to get back on track... definitely check to see if Heather Hostettler is barred in VA. She is the best, although I think she may be on leave right now.

OP, do you have solid proof? If not, get a PI. Also keep a diary.

Given the financial resources of your marriage, it's worth every cent to protect your and your kids' future. In no time he will have a new wife and new kids.

Try Theresa Mihalik or Paul Smollar both barred in DC & VA. Office is in DC.

Set up an initial consultation with either. During your consult they'll quote you a retainer deposit amount. If you feel comfortable with them you can retain them if not continue your search. Most family law firms charge for the initial consult.

This is like those late-night law firm commercials where the big corporation's management is sitting around the table. The Chairman asks "who's their lawyer". It's the advertising law firm. The Chairman says "then we better settle".

Well-played, interns. Well-played.
