Don't worry. They have tons of assets.

I see what you did there.

Really, are you sure? OP, tell us again, do you have a lot of assets?

I'm the woman. I have been married 16 years. I am in disbelief right now.

We have many assets.

Linda Ravdin: ball-ripper. Takes no prisoners. Call her.

I'm in VA. I used to live in NW and am used to asking for DC/VA things since I am in and out of the District. Doctors in DC , etc.
But - yes- I reside in VA so I would need somebody that practices here.

Come on, be nice. She JUST discovered some horrible news and is obviously in shock. Have some compassion.

Speaking as someone who now has NO assets thanks to my ex's problems, I know that a high-asset divorce is different than a low-asset divorce. They're so different.

Good luck, OP. I don't believe there's any such thing as a "good" divorce attorney, but take your time and get referrals and really listen to them when you interview them. Follow your gut. As my friend says, "Try to pick the least sleazy one."

Well, hopefully the lots of assets will help sooth the wounds.

Take meetings with all the best lawyers even if you don't intend to hire them. Then they can't represent your husband.

Do you pay for these initial meetings?

Generally, yes.

8:53 if you can't say anything nice . . .

Really, have a little compassion people. Assets or not, divorce and betrayal are super painful.

Not for the gawkers on this thread. They're eating their popcorn and laughing and having fun at OP's expense, ignoring the Karma that is barreling towards them like a boulder down a mountain. Good luck in life "assets" PPs -- you suck.
