Once my final is over I'm going to read Fall Of Giants. My husband just finished it and couldn't put it down. He is starting book 2 - Winter of the World.

I think I read this --about families just before WWI?

Very interesting nonfiction, recommend for those who liked "Into the Wild."

+1 Just finished it. Love how the blurb describes it as Into the Wild meets Helter Skelter.

Yes, that's it. It's a few years old, but I think it is getting press again just before the third book comes out.

I love Arthur C Clarke and other golden age sci-fi authors (Heinlein, Bradbury, Asimov)

Just starting Angle of Repose by Stegner. Really love his All the Little Live Things and have read it twice. Crossing to Safety was okay, not great.

I'm not familiar with this particular book, but if the concept intrigues you, check out the movie Parkland. I recently watched it on cable-- Starz, I think. Parkland is the hospital in Dallas that both JFK and Lee Harvey Oswald were brought to. It portrays the events of the assassination from the perspective of the ER staff. Great cast: Marcia Gay Harden, Billy Bob Thornton, Paul Giamatti, Zac Efron, among others. (Paul Giamatti was particularly affecting, literally took my breath away at one point.)

Agree with all of this. I loved the first 2/3 of the book. The rest dragged for me.

I read it too and agree it trailed off toward the end. I didn't think it was her best. While I enjoyed it and think she's incredibly talented, I was surprised it won a Pulitzer. The Little Friend blew my mind, though.

Angle of Repose is fabulous.

I'm reading Necessary Errors by Caleb Crain.
