Agree with this poster. Our home search was based on neighborhoods in 22032, 22003 (outside the beltway feeding to Woodson), 22152, and 22015. We are very happy with our SFH purchase in 22032. I wanted to be in close proximity to VRE, else would have otherwise included 22030 in our target area. This may or may not be a downside for you, but one think about the Burke Center enclave of neighborhoods is their HOA. (There are many neighborhoods in 22015 that are not Burke Center, FYI.). Just something to consider if that matters to you; I have heard that HOA is rather heavy handed, but maybe someone can speak to that more.

I think all the elementary schools in the aforementioned zip codes are regarded well, as are the high schools.

Good luck!

Any thoughts on 22039?

One of the more conservative Republican parts of Fairfax.

So you mean a low crime area with excellent schools full of gainfully employed, upper middle class, involved families who value education, take care of their property and are responsible neighbors?

You speak as if that is a detriment.

Nice house, good schools (they don't need to be the best, but good) and a reasonable commute to DC.

14:58 here. I was the PP at 14:33, didn't post at 14:57...I don't care about the political orientation of my neighbors one way or the other.

6:54 here again. In response to any thoughts about 22039:

I searched in that zip code sometimes, but it wasn't really a target area for us. There are lots of neighborhoods feeding into that zip and I recall some feed into 22032 elementary schools and Robinson or Woodson (I think areas closer to Braddock road) and others feed to South County and its feeder ES/MS (I think farther down 123). I am not as familar w/ South County and its feeders.

For those 22039 neighborhoods feeding into 22032 elementaries (maybe just Oak View?), and Woodson/Robinson, the neighborhoods just seem far away from the schools. A bit of a deterrent for us, even if silly. Also, I have heard whispering about redistricting. Some day it would never happen because those neighborhoods would be in an uproar and "be heard" but it was enough chatter to make me consider the zip only casually. Maybe someone else more in the know can speak to the redistricting fodder.

Some people prefer areas that are more liberal or at least balanced.

If it is a "conservative" area by NOVA standards then it is likely as close to a balanced neighborhood that you are going to get in Fairfax County.

Let me guess, you think 40% republican is a far right neighborhood...

I would choose 22152, 22015, or 22003 over 22039. More walkable, famil friendly. More to do near home. Great schools.

You forgot the judgmental, dog whistle, close-minded part.
