I started therapy weeks after DC was diagnosed. I had lost the ability to parent intuitively because of the diagnosis. I went for months and finally got DH to agree to go with me. He was slow to accepting diagnosis, treatment and how it changed our and DC's future.
I love my DH and he is an excellent father and husband but I can't read his mind and at times he didn't want to talk about DC's diagnosis. Now he's (mostly on board and we are trying to parent together and be good to each other.

<<My kid screamed hours per day. We tried everything. Just now, after years and years of dealing with chronic irritability are things getting better. It's very difficult to describe the emotional tole a kid like that can take on your marriage and on family life. >>

This is my therapist. I do not see her for issues related to SN kids but she has been a great help to me as I deal with issues related to life changes and loss. I would be crazier then I am without her. |
| I had something similar happen to me. My life became helping my child. He wouldn't even read the reports. He was not supportive and it made me very resentful. I needed the support at the time. We are now separated. |
