Plus I get to be ambassador to Japan.

Top that!

Riiiiight........

Being FOS does not qualify - that is the strictly D.C. contest. Whereas "preppy" would apply to a different area of the U.S., altogether.

Move back to DC after marriage, live in GP then Wesley Heights with kids rinse and repeat...

If you're of a certain age, your birth certificate should say Columbia Hospital for Women, not Sibley. And there should be at least one Garfinckel's box or bag kicking around somewhere in your attic.

Would a Garfinckel's hat box do? What if said box contains a hat with a Julius Garfinckel label?

Also, you would need to have a fur coat from Saks Jandel. A full length one. And, a Washington Charge Plate.

My mom was born at Columbia Hospital for Women and I have her Garfinckel's hat box in my closet! But her dad was a Fed, so not so much on the other stuff.

You knew or heard of the story of Dr Michael Halberstam and how everyone in DC was surprised when his killer was caught.

Ok, i think you're all confusing "most preppy dc" with "proven native of dc" and "currently rich in dc". These all definitely do not coincide.

Washington Charge Plate, lunch at the Birdcage, and Bethany, never OC. Maybe Rehobeth. Green Book, Cosmos Club and Columbia. And please, no new flashy cars.

The list is so materialistic with all these towels, jewelry, etc., it's nauseating.

Also add Kent and Foxhall areas. So true. It's funny because the kids that grew up in places like Cleveland Park are what we'd call "hipsters" today.

close, but substitute Maine/Chatham/Eastern Shore/Gibson Island/Outer Banks for Bethany.
add Little Graces

Exactly. Ideally your NW neighborhood should be barely accessible by MetroBus, and far, far away from any MetroRail stations.

No it's
Little Graces
Metropolitan Nursery School
St Pats
then
STA/NCS or Landon/Holton/Stoneridge
Depending on how bright your kid is

Puuuuuleeeeese don't bring the NE comparison up. Apples and oranges, people.

And nothing raises a southerners (including DC) hackles like mentioning the NE.

There is nothing - literally not one thing - “southern” about DC/NoVA/MOCO. Nothing.

/actual southerner.
