I can appreciate your trying to find creative solutions to what you expect to be a dilemma. But for the life of me I can't figure out why you need people to tell you that your idea is wildly inappropriate. But you did and people let you know. And from what I read they were polite about it. But even though you did t get the answer you wanted and your child will have to go to the bathroom in the bathroom, no need to act like it's ok to disregard your obligation to parent your child and keep him from disturbing others on the plane. Trust me when I say no one prefers a screaming child. If truth be told most people would rather you find another way to travel.

I am sure most people would prefer to be alone on the plane.
What about those who snore? I had someone like that next to me. Overweight people?
Ok, I get the answers, but finding another way to travel, really?

Sitting next to a snorer or fat person is an inconvenience. Someone pissing and shitting next to me is unacceptable. If you don't get that then you are a complete moron.

Really? Yes, REALLY. It is one of those SACRIFICES we as parents must make. Sounds like you'd rather not make sacrifices on your end, rather just let people on the plane suffer. I am glad I dont have to fly anywhere. People like you irritate me.

Oh, I have plenty of time before K to get my son acclimated to bathrooms. He uses his preschool bathroom, he uses public restrooms with some whining- I was just worried about being on a plane with literally no way out. I wanted to avoid the screaming. It's not like I insist on going ahead with my plan. Why all the outrage?

I don't have an option not to fly- just FYI not all people have relatives to leave kids with for a week, and there are life events besides vacations.
I was particularly impressed by a husband of one of the PPs- calling a child "bastard". I hope he doesn't have kids and never will.
As for bad parenting- well, I guess every parent is bad, as there is no 3 yo who never ever tantrums.

Now I know where passengers such as a guy who was charge with insulting and hitting a toddler come from. The poor toddler didn't even pee!

Anyway, I got the response to my original question, no need to go on, this thread can die now.
Thanks to those who weren't nasty.

OP, people initially were very nice. They thought you were clueless, but they were nice. The problem came when you made the flip remark about guessing people prefer a screaming kid, which left a bad taste in people's mouth. Good luck and i hope your flight goes well.

OP, this is a problem with your parenting. You are so permissive that your son has rarely, never peed in a public restroom?!?

Take from now until the flight to correct your mistakes. Time to visit every public restroom in the county.

Seriously, are you the parent that let's her kid pee in the park???

OP I have two 3.5 year olds, both of whom know how to use the bathroom on an airplane, and in public restrooms. It's weird and bewildering that instead of teaching your child how to overcome his anxiety you are asking if it's okay to make others deal with your inability to teach him basic living skills. So our choices are: deal with him screaming or watching him poop in the seat next to us? I have no words.

OP, do you have time to practice using public potties? Maybe with a reward system like regular potty training? Can he see it as an adventure? Good luck.

OP you are a whiner and unfit to be a parent. Your child will grow up to have many problems if you continue to condone this behavior. Not having relatives to watch your kid is no excuse for your kid sh*tting in the airplane aisle. Sounds like you have some growing up to do before you ruin this kid for life

I can't help opening this thread when I see it bumped back up. Can't look away.
