I'm really wondering if it's a serial killer. An older male could have killed Nancy Dunning a decade ago. He could have been prompted to kill again, with Ron Kirby, and now Ruthanne Lodato today.
All three occurred in close proximity, in pretty much the same neighborhood. Maybe he has some kind of grudge against the neighborhood? Development changes? So scary, sad, and strange... |

I had the same thought. So scary. At least we have a description of the suspect in this case (balding older man with full beard from the latest I've read). |

| Lifelong resident of Alexandria here. I understand that the police can't give out all the information they have, but I wonder what evidence they have to confidently tell the public there's no immediate threat to public safety. It's very similar to the Kirby case in that they said there was no threat to the public, but yet, no progress in that case. |

i don't hear a helicopter, and i did not see any police on my way home today. they have said it's a "very active" investigation. |

I don't think so. I don't think they have any leads (of if they do, they're not mentioning it publicly). But as of now, I think they believe the suspect has probably escaped. Hopefully the surviving victim and witnesses can provide good details, and by tomorrow we'll get a sketch. |

The more I think about it, the more I think it's got to be connected at least to the Kirby case. Some random guy who likes to kill.
It doesn't fit a targeted killing. Robbery doesn't seem to be a motive. What else could it be? I live in Old Town, so a good 2 miles away - but it's still close, and right in the backyard of my Alexandria neighbors. |

Didn't they suspect her husband? He died not too long ago. |

the police "cleared" her husband. it was some of the public that suspected her husband was somehow involved. |
