Ron Kirby was shot multiple times in the torso. |
A still from the surveillance tape was released at the time. As I recall, the quality of the photo was very poor. |
I do t watch csi or anything, but aren't there facial recognition software programs out there? For example, Facebook has one to help tag pictures. Can the FBI run the sketch through some kind of program for matchups? What about social media pictures match ups? |
There are probably 500+ people in Del Ray who look like the sketch. The problem is proving that some guy who looks like the sketch is actually the murderer. It's not like you can search someone's house based on what they look like. And the gun used probably isn't registered. |
If it is a serial killer, wonder what his beef is about. They usually have some hang up to justify their actions. |
Some serial killers like attention..could that explain the timelapse between murders? When Nancy Dunning was killed, there was a TON of media and local community attention. When Ron Kirby was murdered, the case got media attention *at first*, but with no new info coming out, media outlets stopped covering it. What if the murderer then killed Ruthanne Lodato to get more attention? |
A former FBI profiler, Mary Ellen O'Toole spoke to WUSA9's Peggy Fox and says that if this person turns out to be a serial killer, he is someone who has no guilt, he is not crazy, but a psychopath. He kills for the thrill of it. And the reason she says he kills in broad daylight, may be because the risk of getting caught gives him even more of a thrill.

IMO the best explanation for the time lapse is that if it was the same killer, he was in prison for something else during that time. |
I wonder if this person also gets some thrill not just striking in broad daylight, but also in the same relative neighborhood. It's like he enjoys the greater risk. |
But then, they would easily be able yo match up the sketch with the mug shot, right? And track all former felons/offenders who live in alexandria. But they haven't yet. Why not??? |
How do we know he lives in Alexandria? He could live anywhere. He could even live outside the DC area completely. He could be targeting the same area, because he enjoys the risk. |
I agree. |
Who says they haven't? Are you a detective in the investigation? |
P.S. Looking like a sketch image isn't a crime. They'd have to have more evidence than "oh this guy looks like the sketch and is a convicted felon so he MUST be the murderer!" |
Agree also. I have wondered from the beginning if the caretaker lied and did recognize the guy and he is completely different from the description. |
