And OP's response to the alleged murder of her mother is to make dramatic statements on the internet, but refuse to contact the police. She also failed to report her brother's confession to the police when he made it. She is complaining bitterly that he is inheriting.

OP is very, very off.

Reading comprehension fail. OP said she did go to the police.

Exactly. For the critical posters: easy to judge unless you're from the kind of family populated with people like OPs brother. Unless you're related to one or a dozen ruthless manipulators, you don't have a clue about the layers on layers of Catch-22 situations you'd have to face.

There was no Catch-22 situation here. This was a situation of horrible elder abuse ignored by family members. That's not a Catch-22. That's shitty family.

^^ shitty brother. So easy to judge a situation that you do not care to understand.

I understand more than you realize (which obviously you wouldn't, this is anonymous). But yes, I understand. And no, I still don't see this as a Catch-22. A Catch-22 is being stuck with no good option presented. That wasn't what happened here. This mother was failed by the rest of the family. She was victimized by the brother. None of it was good.

OP said that she went to the police a long time after her brother confessed.

I am from that kind of family. They covered some very nasty stuff, including child rape and severe domestic violence. I don't believe OP for a second.
